The only drugs Tiger takes is Chiclets to put in place of his teeth.

5 wins in a row, are you freaking kidding me? The dude had two eagles today. I still think Jordan is better, but this guy is a freak on the course.

Vijay Singh must have nightmares of Tiger at night. Woods is like the Annika Sorenstam of men's golf

Incredible run...we will be talking to our grandkids about how great it was to see Tiger Woods own the golfing world. Incredible 5 wins in a row (2 majors), hell some guys don't even win once in a lifetime!

Re: Tiger Woods vs. Michael Jordan

Tiger Woods is a freakin machine. and while I can understand the comparision kinda between Jordan and Tiger championship wise, with the amount of records Tiger is on pace to break I think Tiger is more along the lines of a great like Wayne Gretzsky. Sure jordan has a lot of rings but he didn't break the records and boundaries like Tiger has and is on pace to do. If Tiger happens to win another tournament or 2 before finally losing one, it has to be considered one of the greatest professional achievements by any athlete.

How many strokes did Tiger win by - I didn't follow any golf today.
I thought Vijay was going to take him down today.

He won by two strokes. He had eagles on the second and seventh holes

Vijay was beatng him by 3 strokes, and Tiger ended the day up 2 strokes, which is just great.

Re: Tiger Woods vs. Michael Jordan

this streak by tiger isn't even his best. i think he went six in a row back in "99-"00. the record was set by byron nelson at 11, but that was a long time ago and i don't think the competition wasn't anywhere as near as competitive as it is today.

also the fact that he's done this after the losing of his father and mentor.

Re: Tiger Woods vs. Michael Jordan

So I was playing golf yesterday and we talked if Tiger would still beat Jacks records and it seemed everyone said no. Not sure what he was thinking when your ranked #1 in the world and you change your swing. What do you guys think?

Re: Tiger Woods vs. Michael Jordan

Swing change isn't the greater factor, IMO. His personal life has thrown in the biggest wrench.

I would have agreed with you last year but I think his swing change is his current problem. I still don't see why you change your swing when your ranked #1 in the world.

So funny seeing old threads you've started. I immediately check for spelling and grammar errors. Then I check to see if I still believe the same old bullshit reason that I started the thread to begin with.

Let's narrow this discussion down to Tiger v. MJ, arguably the two greatest in our era for their respective sports. Up until Sunday I would have said MJ hands down. But as I was sitting on the bar stool something just clicked, almost like an epiphany of sorts, as I watched Tiger almost effortlessly stroke through the back nine. I really think he's pulled a number on the sports world that people will be talking about for decades.

I think MJ single handedly revitalized the NBA in so many ways. I also think that many of today's athletes in all sports can thank MJ for ushering in the era of big endorsement dollars. No athlete that I can think of has had quite the impact that Michael Jordan had on his sport, until Tiger came along. Of course my claims sound pre-mature, especially since Tiger hasn’t statically passed the Golden Bear who is still regarded by many the greatest golfer of all time. Some don’t even consider Tiger an athlete at all because all he does is swing a golf club and walks from one hole to the next. But to me anytime the body, the mind, and emotions are engaged together at once in the arena of competition I consider that individual an athlete. Plain and simple. Wilbon touched on something a couple of weeks ago that made sense, Tiger has opened up and generated interest in the sport of golf that didn’t previously exist.

I don’t know how many of the greats in other sports that have had quite the cultural effect while dominating the sport at the same.
So with your last post do you still think TW is the greatest athlete of all times. I'll say he is not even the best golfer on the tour and I don't know if he will ever become the #1 golf again. If he does it will be for a short period of time because I think a new bread of golfer is emerging that is not intimidated by Tiger.
