Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
Sometimes you have to go backward in order to go forward, being Brunell has us on a backward freefall I don't see the problem with starting a second year QB. Kind of funny but the Cardinals who were picked by many to be better than us had no problem throwing in the towel on the season to start a rookie QB, only if JC starts will the world come crashing down. Give me a break with Brunell already he was washed up before he arrived in DC and has only continued to decline!

A lot of the reason why young quarterbacks do bad is because they're on bad teams. We are not a bad team. Campbell can definitely succeed in this offense this year.

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
From here and out....
Losing 3 games the season is done, so I would assume after the 3rd loss next season begins for us... and I would expect Brunell to part with his millions an retire. Gee, are we supposed to be happy that Mark decided to stay for this season? Hell no, gee mark no more favors ok, Mark's tenure at Washington should be enough to never have him acknowledged in conversation and in fact never remembered or talked about with respect. What ever good he statistically put up in Jax will be long forgotten.

I think you may be on to something here because there was a chorus of boo's during sunday's game, and they're going to get worse if the QB play continues to be ugly. We all know Gibbs's loyalty to Brunell, but if things don't get better he's going to have to consider the change whether he wants to or not. |

Does that mean Al Saunders does not know how to attack cover 2 with the passing game, or that Brunell cant make the throws? |

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
He has to know! I coach middle-school football and I know how to attack it! The chink in the armour of the cover 2 is the middle of the field. Both safties help over the top of the corners leaving the middle of the field wide open. The miss match to exploit is the athletic TE vs. MB. Run the TE right up the the hash. Bam! Touchdown!Chris Cooley is supposed to be the "Tony Gonzales" of this offense. Last year he showed that he could make big plays. Why not this year? In order to beat this D for a TD or big play, requires the ball to be thrown deep. There in lies the problem! In comes Campbell with acuracy and a BIG arm! In this Al saunders can't possibly be considered as an Offensive "Guru" if he doesn't know this simple plan to attack the cover 2! It's chess, not checkers ladies and gentlemen! HAIL from MCUSA!

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
just start him. at this point i'd wait till after indy. if we lose there, it's time to change. with our defense the way it is right now, the playoffs or a magic win streak seem so out of picture it's not even worth worrying about.

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
Smart receivers don't criticize the QB who is currently the one throwing them the ball. Wait until Campbell comes in and you may start hearing a couple of comments about the previous QB's skills from our receiving core.

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
When was the last time we heard any of Gibbs' players talking trash about each other??
I wouldn't count on it starting anytime soon. |

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
You don't have to be talking trash to say something along the lines of "It's nice to finally be getting some attention" or "The way our offense is going now, the sky's the limit" or "Man, that kid throws a real pretty deep ball"

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
The switch can't come soon enough for me.
Here's my worst nightmare: Somehow, we pull off a win this week. in doing so, Brunell buys himself more time. But, ultimately we lose more key games and the season goes down the tubes anyway. But, it happens too late for Gibbs to consider any QB change, so we are stuck with MB for another 10 games. Everyone says starting Campbell means giving up on the season. I don't necessarily buy that theory. I feel he can't possibly be any more inept than Brunell. I'd rather have a QB who possibly throws more INTs, yet revitalizes our sick passing game, as opposed to a QB who rarely throws INTs because he doesn't attempt much beyond 10 yards. This offense needs a major spark and a QB change could be that spark. Starting Campbell isn't giving up on the season. Sticking with Brunell is. |
