Currently it is very choppy and it seems odd. It is hard to explain. I think my roomie agrees its a driver issue, but I will check into that.

Did you change your browser? It could be possible that the scrolling works differently only in your (new) browser. Is the scrolling issue system-wide?

(this would only make sense if you changed your browser)

No, this happened after I reformatted my computer and started over.

And this occurs for all my browsers not just Firefox.

Yes, he's right in that it's totally related to the video driver. That's how Windows will display video (nice and choppy) if the correct driver isn't installed.

Re: Need Computer help

Well I got a driver for my video card and things are looking good right now.

My Anti-virus is gonna run out in 15 days so I need a good free one. I heard the one AOL is letting people have for free is good. Someone told me it the same as some other software, but AOL just bought the rights to it. Said it was top notch, anyone else here about this?

You can't beat free...behold...ClamWin + Winpooch. It's free and it works. The only downside is that it's a tad bit slow at scanning compared to some of the commercial AVS.

I recommend AVG Antivirus or Avast. Both are about the same and are free while keeping a low profile in the background of your machine.

Re: Need Computer help

I second AVG. Have it running on both my desktop and laptop, never any problems. I have heard of Clamwin, and it's a good program as well.

I know Comcast uses McAfee products, and I used to have it on my laptop, but it's a resource hog. I've noticed a huge improvement since uninstalling McAfee and installing AVG.

Yup, never ever install McAfee or Norton crap. Total resource hogs. Use a free program and most likely you'll notice huge boosts in boot-up times.

Re: Need Computer help

Hey guys, my computer still freezes....
It is just happening less, but still occurs. So does that mean something is physically wrong with the computer? Maybe a fan or corrupted memory.

God I hate this sooo much.

Re: Need Computer help

Ok so it froze up again. What it did this time is the fan in the computer started making a louder noise and when I tried to move the mouse it would not work. Then I tried to get to windows task manager, and the computer gave me that ugly beep when it is pissed off at you for doing something wrong.

I dont know if my memory is overloading because once earlier today it did the same thing but I put the computer on standby, and it would not let me log back in because it said the memory usage was too high or something. And just now before it froze up the PF usage on the Windows task manager wasn't above halfway, so I don't get it.

I totally cleaned the computer so I don't really have anything on it beside my music, documents, AIM, Itunes, antivirus, Mozilla with adblocker-plus. What can I do?

Re: Need Computer help

So you can not open Task Manager? If you can, how many processes does it say are running? Out of curiosity, how many icons are showing on your system tray?

Yup, saden called it from the beginning. You have a thermal sensor problem. If it's a Dell, the ones we have where I work are known for that. You need to send it in for some warranty work. If anything, you can try and download a BIOS update and that might help.

Thanks for the help bud, but I think my warranty just expired. I have no idea what to do. Maybe that BIOS update might help.
