I personally think he will be quite healthy this year, and return to his STL form of being solid but unspectacular.

I think we'd need to free up more cap room then.

It seems, at least, like we have a plan to get out of this cap situation. It seems like every move made this offseason has been carefully calculated.

I would be shocked if we don't get Cooley locked up before he hits the market next year.

Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick

I saw at NFL.com - NFL News that it said a conditional 6th round pick, and on ESPN.com - NFL - Skins agree to trade S Archuleta to Bears for pick in 2007 so how is he gonna perform between now and draft day to determine if that pick gets better?

or am i wrong thinking that the pick could become a better pick for us?

Yeah, Patten and Wynn also from what I heard. That will bump that $3M in current space up to a figure perfect to sign our draft picks and maybe 1 more FA after June 1st. Anybody have any word on whether or not we're bringing in Ian Scott and/or Ed Mulitalo for a visit?

I would guess if its conditional then if he plays well next year we get an additional pick in next years draft.

I'm also seeing all over extreme skins that we have resigned Omar Stoutmire to a 1 year deal. Has anyone seen this with a actual source?

Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick

so would that mean 2 picks then?? this yr a 6th round pick and possibly an extra pick next year if he performs well enough? and if so how well does he have to perform for us to get that extra pick. 500 tackles and 200 ints?

Re: Archuleta traded to Bears for 6th round pick

I doubt they make the trade without some cap help.

But why does Chicago make this deal? Wasn't it clear that we were going to release AA? Were they SO worried that someone else was going to snatch him up? I don't get that, and so I applaud the FO for getting anything here. (Of course, that just highlights what a terrible move this was in the first place...)

If Patten and Wynn both got cut, the net gain would be under a half million. (Patten is a 2 million cap charge)

So we wouldn't be able to do too much more, but it would still be a good decision based on freeing up future cap room.

Sign Ken Hamlin to replace AA before the cowboys do.

Once he hits the market, his price gets jacked. It's exactly the reason they missed on him last year.

They probably would have gotten him anyway, but would have had to bid for him.

this would be a good move. stoutmire played very well, in limited playing time, for the skins.

I guess... it's just hard to imagine a bidding war on AA from a skins fan's perspective.
