I'm with you. If I lived in town, I would be right outside of Redskin Park. What the hell is going on? Have these executives lost their freaking minds! At first I thought this was just a bad rumor, fabricated by RosenNUTS. It looks like the Redskin executives have seriously considered this crap. DON'T DO IT! Wait until draft day and wheel and deal when other teams start to panic and feel they are going to miss out on a certain player. Freaking idiots! Make the Redskin organization the laughing stock of the league.

I'm with you bro. You never know who is going to drop on draft day. It makes no damn sense what so ever. Gibbs, Vinny, and Dan just don't have a clue what the hell they are doing. If this goes through my faith w/ Gibbs is in the toilet.

Re: What is your main gripe with the proposed Briggs deal?

Briggs doesn't come close to filling a real need and unlike CJ, if he were brought in, wouldn't make the big plays as often to warrant the cost of his contract. Plus if it were to go through, I don't think it's unfair, but maybe stretching it a bit, to say that Rocky was one of the most wasteful use of trading multiple picks for one pick since ricky williams. He barely saw the field last year yet when he did he was making plays, but despite that they r willing to give up our high 1st and a contract equaling almost as much as Washington's and Fletcher's contracts combined for a player that has been very productive but so far only in a very different type of defensive set. If Briggs were a DE this would definitely be worth it, but as it stands LB is already the defense's strongest group.
For once the Skins actually have some bargaining power with their first round pick and that pick could carry a lot of value come draft day if one of a couple players falls to them so I hope they atleast wait until draft day to make a trade decision.

What about Rocky? Honestly, that's my only true concern. The dollars aren't really an issue and if Bly can get $18 million guaranteed then Briggs can get $20 million. And I think this draft is deep enough on the line that we can still get help at #31

But, we moved up to draft Rocky and then spent money on Fletch. So what's the plan with them? Is Rocky already on the outs? Is he being groomed as the heir apparent at MLB? Is this part of GWill's "everyone's a starter philosophy"

That's the main thing that irks me about this deal too.

Someone obviously had high hopes for Rocky last year... so did we really whiff that badly on him or is this simply another case of this FO falling in love with a big name FA?

Re: What is your main gripe with the proposed Briggs deal?

Options 2 & 3 for me and also, what's the rush to do this now? It's obvious that Briggs isn't close to an extension with the Bears.. We don't seem to be competing with anyone else for his services in a trade so why make this move so urgently.

If the Raiders interest in Johnson is true then that throws the entire top 10 into flux. Quinn, Russell or Peterson will likely be there at 6 so we're in perfect position for a trade down. If they are all gone and we don't like who is left, then pull the trigger on the deal but doing something like this so far in advance of the draft is stupid.

I like Campbell, but I can't help but think we got bent over with what we had to give up for him 2 years ago when there may have been a possibility to get him lower for less rather than do something a week before the draft.

what did we give up to get Campbell? Wasn't it just a 3rd round pick? That's worth every bit of it since it bought a year of experience for him. We've made some terrible trades, but that one was about as good as it gets.

And at least last year's first round pick, which meant that we felt like we needed to trade this year's 2nd so we could move up and get Rocky.

We gave up a first and a thrid.. I don't have a problem with getting Campbell, I think he is going to be a stud.. I just think if we had done the deal on draft day rather than a week before we could have made a better deal.

understood on the draft day thing, but it was important enough on that one to make the trade when we did.

just to clarify, we didn't give up a 1st for JC, we only swapped 1st rnd picks w/Denver, their's in 05 for ours in 06.
They may thought it was a steal at the time, but because we finished 05-06 in the playoffs, they ended up picking about the same place as they would have in 05 (#25). So the net result was a 3rd rnd. to denver.

Re: What is your main gripe with the proposed Briggs deal?

What I dislike most is that we aren't realizing our position here. We have the leverage in this deal!! The Bears have a pro-bowl player who wants no part of the team. If they don't trade him he's gonna sit out 10 games. And it doesn't seem like any other teams are interested. Hmmm, I wonder why that is? We need to be a little tougher. Why not ask for their 2nd or 3rd rounder? Aren't we giving up something like 1000 draft points in this deal (the equivalent of the 16th overall pick)? Too much.

I understand we can get Briggs and still end up with a good Dlineman at 31, but then we have no other picks till round 5. I thought we wanted to acquire more picks? The way I see it, if we pull the trigger on this deal we are getting a high maintenance, overpaid player (you KNOW we'll overpay him) who may just be the product of a system, and we're losing all ammunition to acquire more picks.

On the flip side, I'd love to hear some opinions on our current LB corps. Rocky is the only starting caliber player that will be under 30 when the season starts. Marcus is coming off multiple surgeries, Lemar, as much as I like the guy, is too small and not that good. Behind the 3 projected starters and Rocky, we have NOTHING. (Don't tell me Khary Campbell). So we do need another LB in my opinion, I just don't like this deal.

I guess if you want to look at it that way, but we didn't have a pick in the 1st round last year which is how most people see it. Either way we got a good QB out of the deal and at least we didn't get bent over by Denver like the Duckett deal.

Re: What is your main gripe with the proposed Briggs deal?

I think he would fill a need but I don't think it's the most pressing one we have. If we are going to leverage that 6th overall pick we need to get DL help with it as we have been discussing here for the last two months.

The Bears have a disgruntleed player and they basically want us to take him off their hands in exchange for the 6th overall pick. I don't see why that's a good deal for us.

Also we just drafted Rocky last year. Stay the course. Stay with the lower-key approach. Let the Bears deal with their own personell problems.

If we do get him, they should cut Holdman right?
