If he is, in your opinion good when healthy, surely this means he isn't overated! How can someone you think is good be overated?

I don't think it is fair to call a player overated due to injuries...if you know he is good when not injured, then he must have been healthy long enough to show you how good he is.

You also can't really put Moss under top 10 based on 2006 season because of the QB situation.. All we can do is shut up and watch how far Moss goes this season with only ONE good qb..

Funny how both Vick and Vince Young are on the overrated list. Can't disagree with that assessment.

but no one expected vince young to revolutinize the qb position like they did with vick he is an athlete with an arm and no accuracy. at least young as some accuracy and like gtripp said vince young's hype isnt as much as vick's and he will live up to it unlike vick

VY han't done crap yet outside of pass with the proficiency of a rookie, but he shouldn't have too much of a problem seperating himself from Vick in the future.

VY is overrated right now, but I think he will justify the hype someday. Vick never will.

Did anyone else vote in Chief Jayhawks poll in the talkback section of that article?

You gotta check it out.

Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team

I guess for ARE to be overrated, he has to be valued somewhat.

But to TMC's point, the fact that we overpaid him means that our organization did overvalue him. I mean, being overpaid is the true definination of being overrated at least from an organizational standpoint.

He's not a very good receiver, so its hard to say he isnt overrated, but hes good enough to get the job done and brings a lot to the table, so although I do think hes overrated, I'm still glad to have him.

I think Gibbs puts a lot of value on him as a returner. A great return man can singlehandedly take you from 8-8 to 10-6. Only a few other players are in a position to do that. I think there will have to be a re-evaluation after this season. Those big returns seem really valuable when a team is successful and he's due for a couple this year.

Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team

IMO, the most overrated player on our team is Chris Samuels. I think he is great but he is voted a perennial pro-bowler and i think that's a bit much for him.

the most underrated player before last season was ladell but since he got his contract and publicity now I'd say it'd have to be Mike Sellers. FB's are the most unsung heroes on a football team and they really do some dirty work. The only time its fun to play that position is the goal line b/c of the possibility for a short yardage TD or a bootlegged pass off of the play action.

yes, and let's analyze WHY we signed him for so much; this team thought it was a few players away from a super bowl & ARE was drawing interest from Chicago. We got him as a #3 wr & return man w/the added capability of passing the ball.
The thing I didn't like about the sportsline list is that it just calls him a #3 wr. First of all, he ended the season as our #2 & he does all the other things I mentioned plus we give him the ball to run a lot on reverses.
He was dangerous in Pitt. cause they had a solid team. Once we get to that level here, we'll see him make some more big plays.
I thought of all the acquisitions last year, he paid off the most, we just weren't in a position as a team to get the most out of him.

I see what you are saying, but I have to disagree that a return man can singlehandedly add two wins to a teams total. If he can do that, it's likely that the team probably was good enough to win ten games anyway, and it just so happened that the methodology happened to involve 2 PR TDs. I think a good punt returner can be the difference between 10 wins and 8 wins on a team that has, ya know, 9.5 win kind of talent. I don't think even a great PR like Hester could take a .500 team and have them win 10 games without any additional breaks. I think that type of performance would need something like 8 PR TDs with no fumbles, which is unprecidented.

Additionally, Randle El is hardly the leagues best PR. And maybe Gibbs overvalues him in that role. I mean, hes a big improvement over Antonio Brown. But Football Outsiders argues that he created only about 3-4 points over the course of a season over a league average Punt Returner. 3-4 points probably isn't going to change the outcome of any games. Of course, its about an 8 point improvement over Antonio Brown, which is worth about half a win-ish.

So we really should have been 3-13 last year?

Antwaan will have to do a whole lot more in order for me to keep him off the overrated list. Two or so big returns a season won't be enough to change that.
