Well, sort of...Griese did play significant time for the bears in weeks 16 and 17. And to use the Bears is weak due to the fact that Grossman was weak for the a lot of the season yet they still won. They won with an amazing D.
Also, Jamie Martin played week 17 in place of Brees, and lost. But they didn't need a win there, so it really shouldn't count I guess.
Your point is more valid only if you point out that those teams have the best of the best behind center (minus the Bears who had the best of the best on D). Manning and Brady are sure fire HOFers, and Brees is on his way. The majority of teams need a backup.

I also remember that in Ramsey's last game as a Redskin he had a quarterback rating of about 180 and led the Skins in a playoff win against the Giants, only to then be benched for good and traded.
Actually he had a 49.4 QB rating when he was benched, 1 INT, 2 fumbles, and was sacked twice. That's about as poor as you can get.

Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?

1. It's funny how a "What happens to DC" thread switches to "QB's of our past" thread.
2. Ramsey's did start to suck pretty bad, but then again not every sack is the QB's fault. If I recall correctly even the announcers were pointing out the the O-line wasn't given him a hand getting up, like they were for MB. Even they didn't have faith in him anymore. He needed to be pulled.
3. ALL of our apple's are in one basket with JC, and if (God Forbid) he goes down, it's not looking good for us.
4. But, once again "We are always Super Bowl Continders in July".

I think he's gotta go to Atlanta. Vick is probably going to be suspended and that would be a good opportunity for him to try to get on the field and produce something, anything, that will make people want to bring him in again next season.

Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?

All this talk about Ramsey is driving me nuts...he aint even on the team...his is average at best...remember, he couldn't even do anything with the JETS!
UGH...it was a good move to let him go...Say what you like about Brunell, but he DID get us to the playoffs for the first time in FOREVER.
He will be a good backup, he knows how to win and remember he stunk most when the offense was brand new. (dont get me wrong...he shouldn't be starting)

Regarding Culpepper, the Skins aint gunna touch him. All they should be concerned about is who is the 3rd QB.

My main concern with Culpepper is the NFC East.
I dont want to see him here and put up Vikings numbers.
Is there any chance of him landing in the East?

Having Culpepper as a backup/potential starter in the East could potentially hurt us.

Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?

Where would he go in the East?

Everyone's QB situations in the division are pretty settled right now.

Pretty much everyone in the division could use a backup.

I think he'll be looking for a team where he has a chance to start next year, that's why I think somewhere like Jacksonville makes the most sense. Unless Leftwich blows up Culpepper would have an excellent chance of taking over that team next year.

They let him work out because they did not know if they could sign Green and there was still a chance he could have been their QB. When they signed Green it was known that he would now be traded or cut. If he was injured while working out or doing something on at their facility they would have to pay him his money. Why would they want to risk that?

Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?

I´ve been thinking of this scenario since the Fins traded for T.Green, which teams would be more likely to pick him up and which could be a good fit... Remember Culpepper is his own Agent so he'll only go to a team he thinks he can eventually start.

First Choice
Jacksonville

It's were all the rumors have come up, Leftwich and Garret are in their last year of their contracts and none have shown they deserve a new contract less along a big raise.

If Culpepper is healthy and he thinks he can win it before the season starts this will be his more likely spot it's a good team with playoffs possibilities only shortfall is bad receivers.

Second
Kansas City

Right now they got an old backup veteran that they have taken away the starting job after a raise for a second year 3rd round QB with 0 experience if healthy this is the most logical because it would be the easiest way to win a job. even if ti means getting the ball mostly to your RB and TE.

Third
Atlanta

With the recent Indictment of Vick the front office and new coach Petrino don't feel to comfortable with the future and image of their franchise QB and might make a bigger offer to Culpepper to go with them for security reasons. This would be a great spot because of money and recovery if needed if he doesn't think he can start right away there isn't an immediate pressure but a likelihood of staring in the possible future.

Fourth
Buffalo
J.P Losman has shown specially last year a little promise but still is to raw for a 3 year veteran the front office is a little worried because is starting to stick to a Carr/ Harrignton type of player. Again Culpepper wouldn't be pressured to start but could eventually take the Job if Losman Struggles

Let me know your toughts.

Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?

Once Trent suffers another concussion before the season starts, DC will resign with them.

Then if they were so worried about him getting hurt cut him as soon as you sign Green. I believe you can't lock a guy out if he is under contract.

Why didn't KC lock out Green? His contract was 7.2 million. But they still let him come to OTA's and minicamp. Why? Becasue he was under contract.

KC handled it the right way. Miami and Tenn ( w/ McNair) did not.

Culpepper doesn't know this offense and I don't think he has any intention of being anyone's mentor. For the role the backup has to serve on our team, give me Brunell any day.
Brunell is the best back-up in the league. Until he has to play.

Good post, but I think all this talk about Vick puts Atlanta as the front runner now. If I was in atlanta's shoes, I would be thinking about life after Vick at this point, especially since Vick never showed any ability to be a top notch qb.

Culpepper would be 3rd though. Jacksonville does like Garard.
