But Reed's playing time as a starter (after Sean's passing) for a second year player was great, and he improved every game. I believe Reed will continue to improve and be an important part of our defense and a strong special teamer.

Re: Ken Hamlin - Free Agent!
I like Reed too. He might never be a superstar but who's to say he can't develop into a solid starter?

Re: Ken Hamlin - Free Agent!
I agree, i feel like we actually played better defensively when doughty was the strong safety. When we had Sean Taylor as our FS and Landry as our SS we were playing safe zone coverage. Once sean taylor passed, and we moved landry our d started playing more aggressively, more blitzing and less zone.. Landry will be just as good as sean taylor, if not better... Doughty's strength is playing the run and blitzing, notice how he always found the hole to blitz. This year i doubt we'll be seeing doughty in coverage that much... Which is why we must go corner for the first round or FA

Doughty is good at a few things and has the ability to improve in many others, and that's why he deserves to start as SS in 2008.

Re: Ken Hamlin - Free Agent!
No Way to Ken Hamlin. Reed Doughty is just as good as Hamlin but w/o the huge pricetag. Ken Hamlin just isn't worth signing. If Dallas Sh*ty defense doesn't even want him why should we. If he isn't even good enough for Dallas than he sure as heck ain't good enough to play for the Redskins. If we need another safety, we should draft one in the later rounds of the draft. I think we should all have a little more faith in Doughty, he did excellent filling in for Sean Taylor in the regular season and the playoffs.
BTW I've seen people say Landry is the SS and Doughty is the FS but it's the other way around, Gregg Williams kept Landry deep and Doughty in the box. Doughty doesn't have the speed or instincts Landry has so he was constantly brought down into the box to provide extra run support will Landry was our deep man in Cover 1. Also there are people who think we should move Shawn Springs to safety. Again, No Way. Springs is our best corner and since Carlos Rogers will NOT be ready by the beginning of next season, we will need all the corner help we can get. Without Rogers, Springs is our only corner who can put any receiver on "lockdown" in man-to-man coverage. |
