Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?
I remember how wierd it felt having Sanders on the team. Even when he would make a good play I felt like my enthusiasm was tempered when I saw that he was the one who made it. In the end I cheer anyone who wears the uniform, but it was very uncomfortable having to cheer for him.

Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?
Jeff George by far. This guy ate the team from the inside out. He was such a dirt ball that Marty cut him after the first game. As for Time Out Tony he didn't join the team until the week before the season started, and had to learn the offense on the fly. I don't know why everyone is so down on Bruce Smith, he was old when we got him and still got production. He had 10 sacks in 2000, 5 in 2001, 9 in 2002, and 5 in 2003. Not many other Skins with those sack numbers since Smith retired.

I'm going with Jeff George at the Moment.
No only was he a coach killer, He was a team killer. If we added 5 more years to the list, I would add James washington and Alvin Harper. |

Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?
I look at the worst acquisition as "could we have forseen the FUBAR coming". Lloyd has to be the worst using that criteria because we should've seen the train-wreck a mile away. If Wilbon was getting calls from collegues saying what a complete AH Lloyd was, then I'm sure Gibbs & the FO received the same calls. Not to mention Lloyd already had a rep for "making the spectacular catch but dropping easy ones". Gibbs or someone else in the FO should've overruled Saunders on Lloyd and said "No way!"
If you look at the others; Stubby & Deion had good past production and the hope was they had a little gas left in the tank. George was coming off a great 1999 season, we needed a back-up QB and I believe for the most part in 1999 George was a "team player" for MINN. Duckett had success as a bruising Goal-line back for ATL and Portis had just gotten hurt. Arch had success as a hard-hitting SS, he just couldn't play coverage and GW tried to fit "a round peg is a square hole" by putting him in the Cover-2.

I am astonished that BL isn't running away. WE GAVE UP DRAFT PICKS FOR HIM. End of conversation.

Deion Sanders. EX-COWBOY. Not that all ex-Cowboys are bad (Calvin Hill, for example), but Deion, aside from Michael Irvin, may have been the most hated Cowboy. Then we sign him? I couldn't pull myself to root for him and he rarely gave us a reason to.

Thats why I voted for George. he was known as a coach killer. That's about the only thing he's ever done well.

Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?
I hear ya. I cannot stand Deion. I was very mad when he signed with the Skins. On the first day of the 2000 training camp, when Deion ran out onto the field, I was in attendance and I booed him.

Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?
That's an emotional argument and I think most of us are looking for more substanital reasons other than "I didn't like him" for whatever reason.

Archuletta was overpayed and had a terrible season last year. Too bad he wasn't guarding Lloyd...

Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?
I gotta go with Jeff George cuz that forced out extremely reliable Brad Johnson right after he'd taken the team to the playoffs.

Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?
Great question.
so much hate...tough to quantify. I mean drafts picks vs cash? Actually playing and hurting the team (arch) v never playing and costing picks (TJ)...I'm overwhelmed.
