Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions

defense will be better (healthier springs taylor and landry) - the saints are down colston, and duece and stecker missed last game too... so if our offense can show some signs of life, it's perfectly winnable. our D tends to gameplan well for this kind of team too.

i homer'd my pick, but i can see us losing to offensive ineptitude just as easily.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions

I think we lose, but we'll play much better. The Saints don't have a scary pass rush like the Giants, so I think JC will find a rhythm and Portis will gain some yards on the ground.

But in the end Drew Brees methodically gets to us. Even without Colston, the Saints have a lot of weapons to cover. I think we'll take care of the deep threat OK, and neutralize Patten and D Henderson. But Shockey and Bush will get us with underneath stuff and Brees will make just enough plays.

If we come out and look as uncomfortable and lost as we did last Thursday, then every bit of bad press will be deserved.
Must win wasn't the greatest choice of words. This was more what I was trying to get at.

Pretty much, we need a win to save face..

But I agree with what you said. If we look good, naysayers will either jump on the bandwagon and say, "I knew it all along" or will be nowhere to be seen. But if we lose, pointed fingers will be abound.

Saints by at least two touchdowns. If we can't keep our D off the field for more than a couple of three and outs, it's going to get really ugly.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions

The way the O looked last week, I'll be happy with 2 touchdowns, and a FG. I think our D can contain thier offense, and Reggie Bush isn't going to have the game he had last week with the receiving numbers, our LB's are too good for that.
With that said, I'm going to go with 14-10 skins win with a TD in the 4th QTR. A LL interception kills all hopes of a game winning drive by NO.

31-13 Who-dats.. I hate to say it, but last week I KNEW we were beating the Giants so maybe a little reverse psychology will work it out.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions

Lots of folks here have the Skins winning on Sunday but only scoring "in the teens". The Saints' defense isn't very good; in fact, it may be really well below average.

So, win or lose, if the Skins can only generate 17 points against that defense it is a BAD sign for the rest of the year.

Two keys to this game:

1. Is there pressure on Brees that comes from the DTs without any inside blitzing? If so, the defense can assert itself on the Saints offense; if not, the Saints will move the chains a lot.

2. Can the WRs get any "run-after-catch" without having an open field ahead of them to begin with? If they can't do this against a mediocre defense, there could be big problems down the road...

This is a winnable game. More than that, it is a game the Skins really need to win for a whole bunch of reasons. Watch the way the team reacts to the first bit of adversity in the game. The team reaction and the way the coaches deal with the adversity will tell you a lot about how this team will fare for the rest of the year...

All I have to say is Go Skins...

Despite a rocky start, I'm hopeful that we can run the Saints out of town!

Let's Go Skins!!!

did you watch the saints game last week? this isn't the same old defense. the additions of vilma, ellis, mccray, glenn and others have brought a new found and very welcomed attitude to the d. they will get in your face and knock you down. don't expect too have a easy go at it like normal.

1. i doubt yall will be able to get too drew without blitzing. we have a great pass blocking line (fewest sacks given up past 2 seasons) and drew is very very aware. yall will have to send the occasional blitz too get too drew.

2. again, this is nolonger a mediocre defense. they will be in the redskins face all game long. the corners will stay glued to the recievers, and campbell will spend the day on the ground.
but i'm yet too figure out why the corners play so far back on 3rd down???

Portis has a nice 1st half and we get a few sacks, but JC struggles and the defense gets lit up by Brees. Saints 27, Redskins 14.
