Re: Draft Thoughts - The Post-Haynesworth Edition
I keep hearing about Mack on here but everywhere I look, he isn't te number 1 rated Center. What gives?

Re: Draft Thoughts - The Post-Haynesworth Edition
If we stay at 13, I think we take an OT (and maybe slide Jansen inside if it's Oher?), and then in the 3rd round take a LB like Marcus Freeman who should be available around then.
But depending on how things shake out (particularly with Stafford) we could be in a situation where the Lions want to move up to our spot at #13 and we can slide down to #20 and get one of the USC linebackers and then in the early 2nd take Eben Britton (or maybe Tyson Jackson, and get a like Fulton in the 3rd) Either way, we (meaning the Redskins) have to decide which of the following three positions LB, OL, DE is least important because it's likely one of them won't be truly addressed in the draft. I do know that Cerrato and Campbell (Scott Campbell) love the USC threesome

Re: Draft Thoughts - The Post-Haynesworth Edition
If we fill OLB and RT, I really don't know how much more we could ask. A punter would be nice and I think we'll get that done but I'd consider it a VERY successful offseason if we fill those spots. Especially considering our FA acquisitions and only having 4 draft picks to start out with.

Haha that means nothing man it's if he's really football smart and not school smart...no center coming out of college can just read NFL defenses right away... Next year, now that's another story...

Seriously, if we're gonna settle for a guy w/ durability and injury concerns i.e. Cushing, Orekpo, then just bring Marcus back for a cheap deal and maybe swap he and Rocky. .. on that note I don't understand why Marcus was kept at SLB the last couple years. It really seems like the SLB gets stuck in coverage far more than WLB therefor Rocky would have always made more sense @ strong side and Marcus and weak side. Like Lavar was never great in coverage and played WLB... i would want to have seen Marcus in the same scenario to sort of hide his downside.

When they cut him do you think the FO had any intention of bringing him back for less and would he even be interested? ... he's not rated very high as a FA OLB so it's unlikely he'd get a big(ger) contract elsewhere, just been curious whether this is even a possibility.

Re: Draft Thoughts - The Post-Haynesworth Edition
Saw that and agreed. I think the common sense approach is definitely leaning toward OT w/ our first pick and probably @ 13 (no trade-down) because Monroe, Oher, and the Smith's look like they will def be gone by 20. This is a bit of a shame that there isn't enough starting caliber RTs to spread into the 2nd round because Rey Maluauga may actually be available at 20 because of the combine/injury/40 time

Re: Draft Thoughts - The Post-Haynesworth Edition
Wait... i just figured it out. We could package Golston or Monty w/ ARL and our last pick of the draft for Detroit's 20th overall pick, then we get a top OT and Rey. Man this FO thing is really fun once you get the hang of it...

I strongly think we should try to resign Washington though. The cap credit we get from signing someone with his NFL experience should make him very affordable, and not make it necessary to start a 3rd Rd LB right away. I personally think we may be better off moving Taylor to LB, though. If we did that, we wouldnt necessarily need to bring Washington back and we could resign Daniels and have him start at DE. Like washington, he can be had extremely cheap. We could also draft a DE in the third round. If Brandon Graham from Michigan falls to us there, he would be a steal. We have to remember, now that Haynesworth and Griffin are our DTs, itll make any DEs we put in there look ALOT better. Having Taylor on the roster gives us alot of flexibility in deciding whether to draft a DE or LB in the 3rd.
