re: Q.B. competition?
I am cool with swaping collins for a cheaper and much younger leftwich.
Collins is ok....but he poses no threat to start whatsoever. If they want to push Campbell to the next level...give him some decent competition. That dude is laid back too...just like Campbell...there are a lot of similarities between the 2....I am not sold on Collins being able to rock the west coast offense either...Collins throws to spots...not to receivers...so if neither are west coast system guys...why not go younger, cheaper and with more recent experience for the backup? You guys gung ho on Colt are crazy...this guy is in no condition to start...maybe after 2 more preseasons he could be a decent number 2.

re: Q.B. competition?
Leftwich is not a WCO guy it would be a waste.
Going after Garcia would be a waste of time as well. Collins know his role is to just run the offense until JC comes back or Colt improves and takes the number two job. As a matter of fact the only free agent that is not OL or DL they should consider is maybe Rudy Johnson. |

Yes, throwing to a spot is the WCO.

re: Q.B. competition?
i just think they have lost faith in JC, but come on Leftwich is just a backup, campbell would beat him out anyway! What's this mean for Brennan?

re: Q.B. competition?
In training camp last year Collins looked like a stiff. For a system that is so heavily predicated on footwork, TC seemed to have the most trouble of the 4 QB's in camp. He was great for us in the Gibbs/Saunders era, but it's safe to say he's done. Besides, didnt I hear that he was considering retirement and Vinny talked him out of it?
As for Leftwich, he might have a slow wind-up, but he's tough and can get it done. It would be a great pickup for the Redskins.

re: Q.B. competition?
Maybe they plan on opening the offense up and they want someone who can get the ball downfield in case JC gets hurt or under performs. Besides no one really runs a true version of the WCO anymore anyway. I don't have a problem with this.

Signed for the right reasons, he's an excellent use of resources. Signed for the wrong reasons, and he becomes the first line in a bunch of moves that hurts offensive development. So even though I'm a Leftwich-advocate, once a deal gets done, I'll take a wait and see approach to see what we're planning for next year.

It should probably be noted that Leftwich left without being offered a contract. Not yet anyway.

re: Q.B. competition?
I would never wish anything bad on our team or players, but for the sole reason of silencing the Cult of Colt I wouldn't be heartbroken if he played poorly in preseason.

Garcia would add tremendous value to our team if we signed him. Look what he did for the Eagles a couple years back when McNabb went down. I'd sign him in a heartbeat. |

re: Q.B. competition?
IMO, this is a typical Redskins move. BL had a few good games (especially vs Wash) last year and is now available so the Skins want him. Does he fit with what the Skins are trying to do? Doesnt matter, he's "hot" and available so the Skins want him. In some ways its almost like the Skins dont trust themselves to evaluate young talent. They constantly pick older guys to stick into spots instead of trusting that they properly evaluated a player they drafted knowing that he could step in when called upon.

re: Q.B. competition?
Leftwich is hot? I didn't realize he had so many teams banging down his door. Teams typically prefer a veteran for a backup QB, and Leftwich is younger and a better long term answer than TC.

re: Q.B. competition?
I dont know how many teams are banging at BLs door but of all the available back-ups my bet is he's the most in demand. I agree BL would be better than TC long term. My point was why bring in BL in the first place? Let Colt be the backup. They drafted him, why not trust your own analysis.
