Re: Shanahan likley to be 'Skins next Coach
Unless Shanahan gets total control he is not coming to DC.
Anyone think that Snyder will give him total autonomy? |

Re: Updated/Merged: Shanahan Rumors (Will He or Won't He?)
If I remember correctly (feel free to correct me) he did with Marty. But we all know how that ended. Depends, he either is going to throw a lot of money his way or give him full control, hopefully the the latter rather than the former.

Full autonomy to Mike Shanahan is like a bad organization finding a new way to be a bad organization, with all the transitional troubles that comes with.

I feel bad for Jim Zorn. Yes, he was in over his head, and he hasn't shown much as a game planner or play caller, but in all honesty, he's got NOTHING to work with here.
The players he has are pretty much crap. |

Re: Shanahan likley to be 'Skins next Coach
Ted Sundquist had the title but Shanny was in charge.
As Tripp points out, Shanahan is probably the likely choice but not the best choice. I worry that Snyder will sign someone like a Shanahan or Holmgren etc to be able to say "See, big time coaches do want to come here." But so what? Don't bring in a big name coach just to bring in a name coach. Do your research man. Shanahan should not have control over personnel.

Screw this stupid sh*t. I dont care if Bill Walsh, Lombardi, Shula, or any other hall of fame coach shows up here WE WILL NOT WIN IF VINNY AND DANNY BOY are running things here. We wont period. Look we had Gibbs here, it doesnt freakin matter if Shanahan or Cowher or anybody else, get rid of the FO manangement, its a joke...why even waste our time talking about this....

Any coach that comes to DC needs to be underpaid so he doesn't care about being fired after telling Snyder to get lost. Coaches who are well paid will have some concern over perserving their paychecks. Don't let the money play into any pending coaching equation.

Re: Updated/Merged: Shanahan Rumors (Will He or Won't He?)
If Snyder ever want to win any more he had better hire a good coach and then step back, and let them coach and maybe the team might win some games. After today and I was at the game, Snyder has to be embarrassed for the way his dumb ass offense lost this game. D can't do it every game nor should they have to. I've said this before but the problems the skins have now is Synders fault. And these problems started years ago when he bought this team. He's hired the coachs, Vinney, the high price players etc. and we are getting no were. Bet we don't win more than 5 games this year, and this would be nothing more than a gift from God.

Re: Updated/Merged: Shanahan Rumors (Will He or Won't He?)
The season was over when we loss to the Lions! The rebuilding stage begins tonight. Sherman Lewis takes over playcalling. Zorn is simply the HC in name and not game planning. Sherman Smith is fired. Todd Collins is the Quarterback til Colt Brennan shows something in preseason. Throw screens til were blue in the face when the opponents are blitzing. Get Marko Mithchell, Anthony Aldrige and Todd Yoder in the game.

Re: Updated/Merged: Shanahan Rumors (Will He or Won't He?)
I disagree. Zorn has not used the offensive players to his advantage and he's paying for it. I don't know what school of thought Zorn is from, but waiting a year to allow a rookie to play is old and archaic. Marko Mithcell needs to start this week against the Chiefs. Anthoy Alridge and Marcus Mason need to get some touches as well. Portis has lost several steps and its killing us. The OL is the only work in progress that leaves much to desire.

I would love it if Casserly returned but I am not sure he would want to work for Danny Boy.
