Re: The Official Defense Has Major Issues/Fire Jim Haslett Thread
People may say I'm crazy and a traitor, but we should make a go for Wade Phillips when he gets ass kicked out of Dallas.

Re: The Official Defense Has Major Issues/Fire Jim Haslett Thread
Haslett is garbage, but we kind of have to stick it out because firing people at week 3 is just like we've done in the past, and it brings no good results.
We are heading for a nice draft pick, we are seriously seeing a team that may win only 3 or 4 games this year. We can hopefully continue to build through the draft and hope that next year things start out better...

Re: The Official Defense Has Major Issues/Fire Jim Haslett Thread
It's simpler than that. A 3-4 D has three statues up front to stuff the run and open up lanes for the LBs. I saw none of that.

Plus having a whole bunch of former DEs as your LBs in the 3-4 is not the best of ideas.

That needed level of faith has a way of dissapearing when the going gets tough. I just know we don't have a bunch of fair-weather fans here do we?....sike

Yeah, but if you don't have a D line where are those gaps? Also all you have to do is have a bunch of quickie slants called to negate the rush, like the Rams did. It all boils down to the D line. If you don't have the D line to rush, play zone. |

Mayhem that's the plan. Implement a 3-4 defense we'll suck at not having the personnel and bring McNabb in for a year to save face.

Re: The Official Defense Has Major Issues/Fire Jim Haslett Thread
We can't fire haslett now. That's just ****ing stupid, our players don't fit a 3-4 but that means we have to build into a 3-4.. Dallas and GB both struggled their first year in the scheme.

Re: The Official Defense Has Major Issues/Fire Jim Haslett Thread
THe players can learn the 3-4 and adapt to it. THe question is do we have the talent to do it. I don't think it is fair to call for Haslett's head so soon. OVerall, our team is hurting badly with depth on both sides of the ball. Kyle has no depth at O line, no Wr corp to speak of other than Moss, and a beat up feature RB that is obviously on the downside of his career. Jim has no D line, especially no NT, no depth in the D backfield, and is a bit thin at LB to run a 3-4. I will go out on a limb as say we wouldn't be all that much better if we did run a 4-3, as we would still be woefully deficient in terms of depth.

He's always suffocated the living shit out of our offense for last few 1000 years. They had a goal line stand today. We let some backup scrub score a killer touchdown. What he asks out of his NT would go much better in Albert Haynesworth's mind.

Re: The Official Defense Has Major Issues/Fire Jim Haslett Thread
We simply do not have the depth to contend at this time. I know it has been ages since we had a team that was really fun to watch( 1999 Skins were great), but like I have said, you can't build a solid foundation with changing HC, systems, and players all the time. Folks don't want to hear this, but it is true. We are probably going to have to suffer through 1 or 2 more subpar seasons of football before we see light at the end of the tunnel, unless Shanny and co get the axe and we start all over again.
