Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!

Bose is good for home, but they're nothing special for cars. They're often installed as "premium" or upgraded factory systems. They usually have a small factory amp that allows them to sound better than the factory system. So yeah, they're a lot better than the base stock system, but I'd never upgrade to one. My wife's car had a Monsoon system from the factory, it thumped for a stock radio, but I've since replaced it with a Blaupunkt HU and Pioneer speakers (they're cheap) and it sounds better. My favorite brands for car audio: Subs - Polk Audio, prefer 10s for clarity, still plenty of bass HU - Blaupunkt or Alpine, Eclipse is good too Speakers - Infinity (have in my car) or Pioneer if on budget Amps - Have had Alpines and Kenwood that were good, but the best bang-for-the-buck is California Amps made by Profile. They're very underrated and are awesome performers, especially for subs. Had one of these back in the day, still my favorite of all I owned. Was bulletproof too, survived 2 car accidents (nether my fault) and still kicked. ![]() Now they look more like this: And of course, I always did my own installs.

Ok we really should have had this discussion say 16 years ago but anyways from my experiences with them they never lasted longer then a month. And the feedback they sent through the speakers was so bad it made the PA system in my High School sound like IMAX theater. In my area back in the day if you were rocking CA Amps folks were laughing at you. I rather roll stock then CA Amps any day.

Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
continuing with the Bose theme....
Bose does highs very well, their mid-range bass is ok and their sub bass is god awful. I am sorry you can't ask a 5 inch sub and try to create mid bass and sub bass all at the same time and expect it to sound good, it is impossible.

You guys are all eltectronics while I'm off a bit.
Chain saw clothes for work fishing gear I just got the new HD TV and a ping pong table I've asked for several wood working tools so I'm not sure what I'll get. The wife is easy as I have her tell me what she wants over the year and I keep good notes and I also let her pick out a couple hundred $ worth of clothes. |

Oh, forgot, I would also like a few more exclamation points and question marks in this thread title.

Re: What you want or getting for Xmas!!????!!!
As a family we are sponsoring a family that we will buy some presents for the kids and something for them to give to mom and dad. We also buy them food for a christmas dinner and other esentials. When we all chip in we spend around $400 to $500 and its only $50 per family to make these kids christmas a happy one.

All I want for Christmas is a healthy child. As many of you know, my wife is expecting our first child this spring, and it's been unfortunately a challenging pregnancy. Honestly it's very touch and go right now. I've already lost 5 relatives this year, not sure how much more loss I can take. So my parents, in-laws, etc. have asked me what I want for Christmas and I really can't think of a single thing. Really nothing matters other than this baby.

We actually decide not to sponsor a family this year and instead we are going to donate the money to a battered womens home that is having financial problems. They are actually to the point of having to close their doors so we are donating to them and asking friends to do the same. The club I'm in is going to do a quick vote tonight at our Christmas party to donate some money to the home. |
