Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I give him an - A - grade. He's not all we need but he can be a vital part to the start.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Kerrigan is a blue-collar, pass rusher. Reminds me, in many ways, of Justin Smith...so I give this pick an A++
Seriously though, solid choice. The pick itself I give a B. Being able to draft him and add another 2nd round pick bumps it up to a B+

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I hope this pick works out I gave it a B tho. I hope Dalton is there @ 41 & we trade the 49th pick & add a 3rd rounder that would be such a win for us in this draft.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I was very concerned about the predraft hype that we would try to trade up and take Gabbert of Mizzou. I think the best thing was to trade back if a player at #10 was not their such as AJ Green, Von Miller, Marcel D. I do like that we picked up a 2nd rounder since we gave a way our 4th rounder to the eagles for D-Mac who does not fit our plans. The 3rd rounder to the Saints for Brown was ok as long as we are going to resign him. If we don't then that will be another wasted pick. Who really knows what players will be great in the NFL only time will tell. I do think Kerrigan is a player who can come in a contribute to our team right away. I cannot wait to see what we do with our two 2nd rd picks. Hail.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
The most interesting thing about this pick as well as some of the other guys that Smoot has mentioned as possible picks is what it says about Shanahans evolution as a coach. When I see him pass on a top QB prospect to trade back and get an OLB the main thing it tells me is this.
- 'I believe that the main reason I failed in Denver (at the end of his tenure of course) came from my inability to put together a quality defensive unit.' I think it also means this. - 'I have enough confidence in my ability to coach and find offensive players that I can succeed with, late round picks, cast away free agents, and maybe a few expensive free agents, but mostly vagabonds.'

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
So probably Kerrigan, Fletch, Riley, Rak as our starters?

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I like this pick and the trade down because it represents something that smart, successful teams do and the Redskins in recent years have not done. They traded back and got an extra pick rather then giving away picks. They made a sensible pick at a position of need and seem to have picked a solid player. He's a high motor guy rather then a big ego guy.
Let hope for more of the same later today!

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Very safe pick.
The trade for the additional 2nd rounder was sweet! We may end up with a very nice draft.

I was intially under the assumption Kerrigan would play DE for us, obviously after I looked at his size, there is no way he would. So again we are moving a DE to a OLB...with Orakpo I was much more comfortable because A) he was a better player B) he was a better athelete C) Sam position goes after the QB 95% time anyway, so it plays to Orakpo's strength. Kerrigan adjustment might not be as easy, especially against the run. Im dont see a superstar, but I expect a solid player and end the end thats all you can hope for.
