Re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Glad Roydell won't be getting in the way at practice. He was not making this team...let him go.

Re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
I think I like this thread more than all the other ones about all the other players we've signed in the past two days haha. It's nice to see that this coaching staff had the same opinion as us fans about the performances of these players. Rabach could've left at least a couple seasons ago. Phillip Daniels brought leadership to the team and I thought it was encouraging reading about his weightlifting exploits, but you can't fight age that much. Kemoeatu was clearly not the player we expected him to be, and Roydell Williams wouldn't even have made the roster last season if we had one of the guys we've signed in the past few days.

Re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Phillip Daniels is the one that will be most for his leadership in the locker room, but the team is getting younger and I am not surprised he was released. Good luck to him.

Re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
Thank you P. Daniels and Rabach for all you gave! Both were consummate pros who got a little long in the tooth. The reason Rabach stuck around so long after his skills started to diminish is because what he had between his ears.

Watch Daniels come back mid-season
Seriously though, he's had quite the career. I mean not dynamic stats or anything like that but his longevity has been impressive. I don't think he's ready to call it quits yet

Praise the lord. Lichtensteiger has me in his corner. Unlike Montgomery he is mean.

Re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
I feel like he would be fine at G, not sure at center though, but if only because he's never played center in the NFL yet. I definitely don't have as much confidence in Will Montgomery though, I think we need a bigger sample size from him. I watched him play in college at VT and he was never that impressive there either.

In fact I think people are sleeping on our OL in general. They were solid down the stretch and with a QB that will actually get the ball out on time they'll look even better. |

Re: Redskin Veteran Cuts
I agree. I think our offensive line suffered more from a lack of offensive continuity in general more than it did from lack of effort or talent. Too many parts were constantly changing. New running back week to week, new wideout combinations, McNabb never seemed to fully grasp the system and playbook. We never settled on one lineup although you got the feeling that given the chance this group could really play well together, and I think they will.
All of that is behind them now and they'll be more comfortable with the way Shanny does things. |

Smoot, if Daniels is back I hope it's not with the Redskins. Under any circumstances.

I saw more issues at the QB position last year than I did with the OL. People see what they want to see, and blame it on who they want to blame it on. Many of those horrible McNabb games had solid OL play in it. (Detroit game is the exception) |

The team gave up about 50 sacks and we can't even count the number of botched snaps and QB trips from Rabach. All of our QBs were running for their lives. Less than a month into the season, McNabb was limping around like he stepped on a porcupine. We all remember Rex's first play behind that line (Suh). Now, McNabb was horrible himself also, did not grasp the offense and did not seem to want to learn and he often looked like a point guard throwing bounce passes into the post...past his prime obviously, but a little more time to throw and less scrambling on a bum ankle would have at least helped a little. The O-line was atrocious...which helped a bad QB (for this system) be worse. Rex knew the offense and was able to get the ball out quicker, thankfully. The line seemed to grasp the run-blocking schemes very well, we had a great running game with whomeverwas at RB (Portis, Torain, Williams...) but pass protection needed some work, especially in the middle with Casey "Turnstile" Rabach.
