Re: Roster Cuts coming and gone
I don't think doughty deserves to be cut so I don't see that as a surprise. Everyone's expecting him to make the team.

Re: Roster Cuts coming and gone
I'm supprised Barnes was cut. I liked what he and Gomez were doing on the field together in preseason.

Re: Roster Cuts coming and gone
It was Dante Barns that was cut right? Not Kevin? I am assuming that was the case as KB has been very solid so far this preseason and should contribute this year....finally!

Re: Roster Cuts coming and gone
I don't get why Doughty is being brought up to this conversation. The guy pretty much plays to the level of a backup safety and the coaching staff (at least MS) seem to like him. If he is kept (which I think should happen) it would not be a waste of a roster spot. Now if Horton is kept, it would surprise me because I don't think he has done much this offseason. Although, I wonder if the team is going to cut their losses with Kareem Moore. I mean they got Atogwe and Moore continues to have injury problems.

No doubt!
Reed Doughty isn't Ronnie Lott but he continues to be a valuable contributor thru the years.

I think Doughty is a solid player. He is most certainly not the best guy out there and a long shot from being a pro bowler, but he's a solid, dependable guy. Had some big shoes to fill when Taylor died.

Re: Roster Cuts coming and gone
I have to say I'm pretty concerned about our secondary. We have, at best, one average cover corner and a bunch below average. Our starting safeties are both at risk to miss significant playing time due to injuries. If our front 7 is anything less than DOMINANT, teams with even an average passing attack should be able to beat us in the deep passing game with regularity.

I was routing for McBride just because he went to Richmond..... I was also routing for Kyle O'Donnell, because on paper he matched up almost perfectly with Clay Mathews.... I think Kyle was in camp for like a week. Crazy that some guys no matter how they look on paper just dont even come close to matching up on the field.

Yeah i am too. Combine that with 2 converted DE's that now have to drop into coverage i think that is one of our major weaknesses. The positive is that i think we have very solid depth at CB just no real lockdown corners, so our nickle packages should be strong. Back up FS is still a major concern though. Someone said something about maybe the Skins giving up on Moore? I think he's on the pup list so i see us keeping him on their instead of releasing him. Although that only gives him 7 weeks from now to get healthy. One thing i like about Snyder is that he doesnt mind paying a injured player if the coaches think that player may be able to help us in the future. How much easier would it have been to cut Malcome Kelly last year, but paying him to sit on IR was worth a gamble for Danny. Unfortunitly it didnt pay off.

I'm just checking but .... were you "rooting" for him or "routing" for McBride? Just so I know where your coming from. |
