Re: Landry to miss opener vs Giants

Do we even know if Landry was talking trash before the game though?

Something irked me about that story. I don't think LaRon and D-Hall would be making fun of DeSean's concussion, and if they were making fun of him, why the frak would they do it in earshot?

When I look at that fight, I see LaRon pat DeSean on the shoulder like "have a good game", and then DeSean flies off the fricking handle for some reason and shoves LaRon, which started the whole fight.

And the real problem on the first play was that the play call was friggin' stupid. Haslett made D-Hall the spy for Michael Vick on that play. D-Hall gets no jam on DeSean Jackson off the line of scrimmage since he either is spying Vick or bit on the play fake, and Landry, already dealing with the achilles injury, wasn't going to beat D-Jax in a foot race.

Landry looks like he started a fight and then got burnt, when it seems to me that dude got the bad end of a stupid situation with DeSean being a brat about something, and then this defensive coordinator and cornerback essentially selling him out.

Spitting on a guy? Because another player said he spit? is there any proof of this spitting?

We understand polywog dislikes Landry on a personal level, but he brings it to the table when he's asked, and I love watching him play.

The Washington Redskins’ LaRon Landry said he was nowhere near the Eagles’ Mike McGlynn on two extra points and couldn’t have spit on McGlynn. But game video shows otherwise.

Landry is at the center of a controversy after multiple Eagles players accused him of dirty play in the Redskins’ epic 59-28 loss to the Eagles on Monday night.

After the game, the Eagles’ starting center, McGlynn, told reporters Landry went up to him on two extra points and spit directly in McGlynn’s face.

Landry responded by saying he was nowhere near McGlynn on the eight extra-points attempted by the Eagles in the game, and he could not have spit on McGlynn.

This is what Landry told the Washington Post :

"This is my answer: When would I ever be in touch with the center? I never blitz the 'A' gap." Landry said. When told McGlynn said the incidents occurred during extra points, he said: "Extra points? Still, when would I ever be in the 'A' gap? Extra points I'm on the end. With that said, that's your answer."

McGlynn claimed Landry spit on him after the Eagles scored their third touchdown and were kicking an extra point to make score 21-0.

The video from that play is inconclusive on the ESPN broadcast, since the director cut from the extra point to show McNabb’s reaction.

But video from the second extra point shows Landry (wearing no. 30 in red) lined up opposite the Eagles left tackle and walking right up to McGlynn (wearing no. 77 in green) after the kick when McGlynn was prone of the ground.

Landry can be seen leaning over and staring directly at McGlynn, with a distance of just several feet separating the heads of the two players.

On the broadcast, there are two other incidents where Landry appears to be close to McGlynn on the fifth and sixth extra points.

Landry also started the pre-game scrum last night that fired up the Eagles, along with Redskins' cornerback DeAngelo Hall.

Landry was burned by Vick and Jackson when they connected on an 88-yard TD pass against Landry to start the game for the Eagles.

Jackson was seen taunting Landry as he danced backwards into the end zone on the long pass.

Fox Sports says Landry and teammate DeAngelo Hall were taunting Jackson because of his recent concussions in a locker room tunnel as the teams were coming on the field.

“He brought up my concussion, and said, ‘I’m going to put you asleep again,’ ” said Jackson.

There were other reports Landry was bullying Jackson by making hand signs that he was going to give Jackson another concussion.

Come on. I dislike the Eagles too, but you have several witnesses who claimed that this happened and LL himself giving a false/conflicting statement.

Landry was back and in position to make a play - he was just flat out beat.

Re: Landry to miss opener vs Giants

The only problem I have with Laron Landry is the fact that his football IQ is atrocious.

We are much better when he is on the field ONLY when the defensive coaching staff makes sure he doesn't have to think. At all. Ever.

And at the end of the day.... I'll take Landry over about 26 other safties in the league... just an estimate but a pretty close one.

And how my QB's did we have start after Rypien and before Snyder bought the team again ? Had to have been 1 right ? This was such a model franchise during the Casserlie/Cooke reign wasn't it ?

Oh, this thread isn't about Roy Williams(Safety)? Oh well, they pretty much have the same game. Oh, notice that pro-bowl pic of RW above. Proof the PB means jack shit.

Don't agree with the comparison to Williams. He was much more of a liability in coverage than LL will ever be.

I'm not sure I agree with this.

LL is the fastest safety in the NFL yet the guy has gotten beaten long by five yards or more like twenty times in his young career. Probably an exageration, but why does he get run by so much? Oh yeah he's a moron when it comes to coverage. Sounds like Williams to me.

LL is straight up awful if his responsibility is coverage.

I think you may be forgetting how bad RW was.

Coverage obviously isn't LL's strength, but he's not a complete one trick pony out there like RW was.

He was a 5 time Pro-Bowler. Isn't that the standard people use for guys that are supposed to be good? (does with D. Hall fans)

I disagree. He's exactly like Roy Williams and is being used right now pretty much the same way. Stack him up at the line and let him rack up the tackles.

How many times are we going to cherry pick that one play?
