Chris Cooley sets career record for catches by Redskins tight end - The Insider - The Washington Post
Nice career mark by Cooley. Hopefully he can get that knee healed up because he sure didn't look like himself out there yesterday. |

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
This was a team effort which is how I want us to win every week. The gameballs coulda gone to Rex, Davis, Neild, but I went with Kerrigan because it was the play that changed the game. Its a type of play you'll never forget.

Good job! Not going to get into bashing Landry, as he is the new "sacred cow" of Skins fans everywhere. I like posting here at the Warpath....I don't want to blow it. The Redskins players seamed to be having the time of their lives....high-fiveing each other and full of exuberance. Reminded me of Gibbs 1. Last edited by polywog; 09-12-2011 at 10:36 AM. |

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
My Studs:
Rex: really played well and did so under some pretty heavy pressure and inconsistent play by our Oline and drops by our receivers D Hall and Josh Wilson: were superb. Really good game by both. Wilson really showed he can cover. The Rookies: Kerrigan and Neild were game changers. Neild needs to be in the rotation, maybe second half guy who comes in after the interior has been worn down by Coefield, because the Gaints Oline looked exhasted by the mid-third quarter. Sav the Punter: No one ever talks special teams, but he was great. Only several penalties by the team was just so impressive. Discipline by Shanny is too thank for that.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
I put other for Nield. Two sacks and a forced fumble for a guy that no one thought would make the team ended up making a big difference. No offense to Cofield but Nield just looks fast out there, and hungry. I think he needs to get more reps.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
Although he didn't make any highlight reels or TDs, Moss came up huge with some nice first down catches.

Good point on Moss. In fact, I think all his receptions were for first downs

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
Yeah Moss was pretty clutch, and Rex just missed him on what would have been a big play.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
I gave my vote to Davis. HUGE game for him. Chris Nield was pretty awesome too, in fact the dline was awesome, i thought they were just supposed to make plays for the linebackers??? Everyone on the front 7 played awesome!
Grossman looked pretty good but had 3 series in a row towards the end of the game where we were all got pretty nervous. The back to back sacks for huge losses, the pass he kind of just tossed up in the middle of the field to avoid a sack and fumble for a loss. All while we had the ball towards the end of the game. He played well though especially when you consider it was his first time on the field in 2 weeks. He could be really good for us and im excited to see him continue to develop .

He showed a lot more burst and instinct than I think anyone credited him for. I have looked at any replays to see if he was the space-eater that I thought he could be. Keim's one comment was that he seemed immovable which works for me. Also, Nield was only in the game for 10 snaps. Nice impact for such short playing time. [As I understand it, of our draftees, Nield, Kerrigan, Paul, Helu, Gomes and Thompson were active. I heard Paul's name called on ST once and Helu got a couple snaps. Any other rookie work happen?] While lots of guys played well, I am not going to single any one out - Damn good team ball and so nice to see credit being given to players by players (Orakpo on Kerrigan, Cofield on Nield, Grossman on Davis). As someone said yesterday, it was good to root for a team that actually looked competitive. One down, 15 to go. I stand by my 10 - 12 win prediction.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
Kerrigan. His big TD really put the Giants in the grave. Our D was a stone wall after that play. 5 tackles too.
The rookies on D had incredible debuts. Kerrigan with 5 tackles, 1 INT for a TD and Chris Neild had 1.5 sacks and 2 tackles as a backup NT.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
I think it's been mentioned before, but his move to get the 1st on the 4th & 5 play was just sweet. He knew he was short and wasted no motion to get the first before he could be hit. I have seen many a WR dick around on that type of catch and come up just short. Moss secured the ball and was almost immediately beyond the marker. Very nice.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
I gave the nod to Grossman because he followed up a fumble with a 70 yard TD drive. Bounces back and takes the team down the field with a hell of a throw to Gaffney for the score.

I want to add Second Half Effort to the stud list. Great to see the team step it up and not settle down!
