I think we could see Penn State's president gone too. He already wasn't very popular with the PA Legislature and the Governor due to the whole issue of steep budget cuts. I can definitely see some political pressure for him to step down over this as well.

UPDATE: Now there are rumors on Twitter that JoePa has been fired.

I have to admit. This comment on another forum made me laugh.

Penn State Nittany Lions' sex abuse scandal -- Jerry Sandusky was on campus last week, reports say - ESPN

The child molester had access to the school up to last week. I can't wait till they get buried in civil suits. Hope the school's football program goes bankrupt.

A major house cleaning is coming and Joe Pa should be first. This all happened on his watch. He should step down TODAY! But he's such a hard head he's probably thinks he's not to blame. His DC was playing around with little boys in the shower and he knew about it and looked the other way. The whole administration department looked the other way. So dispicable.

Looks like his departure is in the works.

Penn State Nittany Lions call off Joe Paterno's news conference - ESPN

It really is such a shame for all of college football. Such a legend goes out like loser. Oh well, it's deserved.

I feel bad for all the current players and coaches that had absolutely nothing to do with any of this. There are going to be a lot of innocent people very negatively affected by all the legal crap about to come to down on that school. It's gonna be really, really ugly.

What I don't understand is why didn't the guy ( Mike whoever, think he's the red head on the sidelines) who actually saw it, put a stop to it??? I would've walked into that shower, punched Sanduski as hard as I could, grabbed that 10 year old and got him outta there. How could this guy witness such a sick thing and not do anything about it? He should just pack his shit and leave Happy Valley today and Joe Pa should be right behind him.

Does the school gain anything for firing Joe Pa rather than letting him step down? More from a legal viewpoint?

I personally would respect Penn St. more if they fired him.

He wants to coach on Sat. I seriously can't stand Paterno. He should be fired today.

Anything to be gained or respect? Well, I think that ship has sailed. But a good old firing would definitely help the Penn State community and the victims put an emphatic end to this horrible chapter in the school's history.

I'll add, the quicker the NCAA steps up and levy some heavy sanctions, given what they know, will help folks get a little closure for now. I'm sure they have to allow the investigation to run it's course before they can step in with a heavy hand, but by God they need to do something in the name of honor and integrity.

Everyone involved needs to be severely punished.

That said, there are thousands of people at Penn St. and the vast majority of them had nothing at all to do with this scandal. Why would you wish so much harm on so many innocent people? Why should innocent others lose their educations, their jobs, etc., due to bankruptcy?

Someone else here said it correctly: you are one angry, hate-filled dude. It must be sad to go through life carrying so much hatred.

Sometimes it's easier said than done. We all would like to say that we would do this, but unless we are put in that same situation, we really can't say for sure what our actions would be. I would think that a fair number of people would go into shock, honestly. It's not something that anyone ever expects to witness, let alone need to react to.

I was talking about their football program, not the university as a whole.

Yes. I have a hatred for corruption and child molestation. My life is happy and I'm a very happy non-angry person. Don't judge me.

Outside of the lives of the victims and their families that will be forever haunted/tortured by the evil acts of Sandusky, the saddest part is that JoePa could've saved Penn St. from the ongoing scandal by immediately and forcefully addressing the situation and involving the authorities.

He failed when called upon to act in the interest of the defenseless and he deserves everything that is coming towards him.

I can understand your point, but to continue at the university and to stand on Penn St. sidelines after knowing what happened has absolutely no defense.
