Re: Car Audio
You can still rip your discs to lossless format (like FLAC), which sounds pretty much like tracks from a CD.

i think we're the minority, i've also never owned an ipod. you pay once, and it's yours to replay how often you like. does that unit look like it can do everything you want it to? like i said, i'm partial to alpine. many moons ago, my cda-7998 had a problem w the screen (i used to bake my car often, i attribute the problem to that), and they fixed it at no cost to me... AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD. bless their hearts

Ask plenty of questions Unless your doing a complete "Gut" of your old system, head unit, speakers, etc, you will have some compatibility considerations. They can also handle that for you so it WILL sound as you IMAGINE it to be.......

Re: Car Audio
I like Crutchfield but holy crap they're expensive. So hard when you can buy the same products for a third the price (and you know what to do with them).

Honestly if Best Buy wants to stay in business they should take a hard look at Crutchfield's customer service. If BB had CF's customer service I probably actually go there (BB).

Best Buy is a joke, there's a reason why they're going down the toilet.

Re: Car Audio
Also, if you get an aftermarket unit, get one of these:
Alpine KTP-445U "Power Pack" Upgrade any car radio to 45 watts RMS X 4 at Crutchfield.com This is HUGE for sound quality. It's basically a small amp that will fit in your dash. I have a buddy who just did this and a head unit and his stock speakers sounded amazing.

that power pack that malcolm referred should do that trick. you can always install the receiver, see if you're happy w the sound, then add the power pack later, if you're not happy. crutchfield has live online chat, give them a holler when you have a chance. i prefer online chats (in general) because i can go back and read anything that was said, instead of trying to remember every detail of a phone call. also, make sure your stock speakers can handle 45w rms.

Re: Car Audio
It was only $50 and I would not give them the satisfaction of buying anything else from that place. I feel better knowing I'm a very, very small part of why they are going out of business.
