Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
There's no value with the free agent receivers. Even Morgan is going to get a ton of money.
There's enough bargains out there where if we wait until April, you can get a good receiver off FA for less than $2 million (Braylon Edwards, Chaz Schilens, Early Doucet, Jerome Simpson) on a one year show me deal, and I think we should. It would make a ton more sense than bringing Stallworth back. But big money for any of these FA receivers is a bad idea. The draft is/was far more promising. And the trade market is intriguing because it's a buyer's market.

Anyway, back to the subject of the thread. What is the deal with McNeil, one moment he's a top LT in the league and the next he's being cut. Does he have health issues or something. I would like for the Skins to shore up the RT position and not roll the dice with J. Brown again.

Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
Since March FA is so thin at OT, maybe we can find a FA right tackle after the June 1 round of cuts.

I think the market have a load of injury prone, vetern tackles, but that doesnt really solve our problem. Just dont overpay if we do it. I just dont want to see Jamaal Brown pass block for us anymore, its like playing craps...its just a matter of time.

Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
Maybe. And we probably won't even have to wait until June 1st to find out who that is, since teams can designate a player they cut as a "June 1st" casualty in order to release him sooner.

Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
Are there any 3rd round RT projected as starting caliber?

Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
If they were right-away starting caliber they likely would not be in the third round.
Personally the only trade up into the second move that I would like would be a trade-up to get OT Mike Adams.

Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft
I think MS and BA did a good job finding good prospects in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds last year. We have four picks in those three rounds, so I would be fine with the staying put and doing their thing again.

My question is about the third round prospects: Which of the this year's third round RT could start and become this season's Jared Veldeer? |

But to go with the spirit of your question, IMO perhaps Nate Potter from Boise St. can be had in the 3rd or 4th and be developed into a starter. He has the Shanny build.

Tight end starters with good upside are typically there in the middle rounds. Although this is kind of a weak year for TEs.
