Technically the Saints moved him from RT to LT

Re: Jamaal Brown Has Surgery..Again.
It's just time to move on from Brown. Hopefully they can get someone in the upcoming draft to push Polumbus. RT and safety have to be at the top of their list.

We all remember JB missed the entire 2009 season due to injury right?

Re: Jamaal Brown Has Surgery..Again.
The point is, going into the draft, they knew RT was a potential problem. They knew our picks were limited. And they were trying to field a team for the short run as well as the long one. They took two big shots, DMcNabb and JB. I hated the McNabb trade, but thought the opportunity to upgrade our OL was worth the risk. Taking Ridley at that point, would have been crazy, and just as much a shot in the dark. He certainly wouldn't have helped out the line.
Every fan can play the hindsight game, it makes good discussion fodder. If a team makes a ton of bad and minimal good moves than we can have the fire xxx theme. Overall I don't see it that way with this FO |

Re: Jamaal Brown Has Surgery..Again.
If the Redskins waited until after June 1, 2013 to release Brown, he’d count $1.1 million against the 2013 cap and $2.2 million against 2014. That scenario could be attractive because the Redskins’ salary cap penalties expire in 2013.
Ok, it seems to be no brainer to hold him until June 1 but I know that date also has some other meaning. Does it just mean we can break his hit up between 2013 and 2014 or is there something I'm missing. The only 7 exceptions to that were the 7 names that I listed earlier. Moffitt in Seattle being the only player that might have been taken but he was a guard, and according to Wikipedia - Moffitt was drafted number 75 overall by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2011 NFL Draft. During the live ESPN coverage of the draft, Moffitt was termed "unathletic" and "a reach" by ESPN analyst Todd McShay. So it's not a case of we will never know. We know the discrete number of players that were off the board from the time of our traded pick to our next pick, and we can see if any would have impacted our line in a better way. And that is hindsight that seems to say that a healthy JB would have outshined any of those 7 options. Although Mallet might make a brutal RT :cheeky-sm Round 3 of the draft |

Re: Jamaal Brown Has Surgery..Again.
Also, there were 10 OT drafted from #62 (a draft position we could have gotten if we wanted the guy since we traded out of #59).
So some diligent person, not me, could look at those tackles and see if any were so impactful that we should have taken them instead of Hankerson. Some might be, but this still fits into hindsight imo. |

Re: Jamaal Brown Has Surgery..Again.
Either way Brown is good as gone. That 3.5 million $$$ he is slated to earn next year can be used to sign other players that can wholeheartedly contribute to the team.
