Re: great injury news

Why is Garcon so against having surgery? Going out there in pain isn't doing anyone any good. He needs to shut it down and try and come back next year.

I wouldn't expect much better play from Merriweather than we're getting from the other guys.

I would guess because the foot/ligament surgery is no guarantee at this point and may even make things worse.

From all that I am seeing, this is not a "let's put in a couple stitches, wait a couple weeks and ta daaa" operation. It's a "we're going to try some screws, a cadaver ligament and hot glue, keep you off your feet for 3 months, in a boot for three more and then pray that (1) it all holds together and (2) we didn't hit the nerve cluster right above the big toe which could create incredible pain and loss of movement" kind of surgery.

Based on my experience and from what I have seen, this is essentially lis franc type injury (torn ligament attached to metatarsil) except that it is on the bottom of the foot as opposed to on the topside.

Re: great injury news

why would he take less money? the contract he has is what he has, and dumping him costs more next year than keeping him.

why not see how he plays before making reactionary decisions?

You boot licking pony! How dare you make a rational, logical observation. Burn it all down now! Cut them all! Start from scratch!

Garcon was awesome with Curtis Painter throwing him the ball. He looked pretty damn good for a brief moment with RG-3. Would be a damn shame if this injury is career altering. I really felt like those two had a connection and were going to be a dynamic duo for years. I keep hearing that the foot surgery could make things worse - how? Worse in that he will have to be shutdown till next year or worse in that it will heal wrong possibly? What the hell is up with Aldrick Robinson after the hot start? Would love to have AA back. He showed serious potential in 2010 and that was with no qb.
Merriweather I am excited about. My God if he is in football shape he has to be an upgrade from what we have now.
JB vs Polumbus - i vote puke on both of them - JB is damaged goods - no way around it.

Like I said, do whatever is best cap-wise. You can't expect anything from Garcon at this point, regardless how you felt about him three months ago. It sounds like a freak weird injury that pretty much makes you gimpy...forever?

So yeah, if it would cost more now to cut him then keep, wait until it costs less.

The positive thing is we don't have to go in a desperate search for elite WR talent, assuming Fred Davis is still Fred Davis next year. Go grab an affordable vet, like Jabar "How do like me now?!" Gaffney, and spend some real money/draft resources on RT, secondary, secondary, secondary.

Re: great injury news

coles had a foot injury that never healed, but he was still a good WR afterwards. he lost his speed though.

lets at least give te dude a chance to see what he has though instead of assuming he's done without proof.

We have the worst luck w/ wr's. We don't have one WR that's dependable. After years of trying to upgrade the position, old man Moss is still the best guy.

And even Moss is dropping the ball....... Frustrating!!!! Someone said earlier that we have the wrost luck in finding receivers...... Look at Brandon Lloyd, leaves here and goes on to be good once again? We are cursed!

I dont think our coaching is strong with the recievers. Look at all young guys Shanny has drafted, none have made significant impacts. Pathetic. Sadly I still think we need to keep drafting WRs.
