Re: Ravens V Redskins - Beltway Brawl or Maryland Massacre?
I think we beat the ravens, but lose to the browns.

If we beat them, it'll be, "Well we had injuries, blah blah blah." Seems so rare when anyone gives a team credit for just executing. It's always the other team had an off day.

Re: Ravens V Redskins - Beltway Brawl or Maryland Massacre?
By the numbers:
Baltimore Offense: Yards per game - 19th (343.2 ypg) Points per game- 9th (25.5 ppg) Redskins Offense: Yards per game - 7th (383.7 ypg) Points per game- 8th (26 ppg) Baltimore Defense: Yards per game allowed - 25th (372.2 ypg) Points per game allowed - 8th (20.2 ppg) Redskins Defense: Yards per game allowed - 29th (390.5 ypg) Points per game allowed - 23rd (25.1 ppg) The two teams are pretty close to being even, but the one area that is huge between us and the Ravens is their points allowed per game. They are a stingy defense that really doesn't give up points easily. Which means we have to capitalize on the red zone trips. Moving the ball up and down the field isn't going to do jack shit for us. You don't win games with the most amount of yards, you win it by points. Stating the obvious but still.

Yeah. I'm liking that too. Try to keep any big plays to a minimum..get some pressure on Flacco..and hold them to FG's as much as possible. Game over...Redskins win.

Stumbled upon this stat: Much-maligned #Redskins defense is 7th in the NFL with 64 QB hits. The Ravens have registered just 49. |

That's backwards. Offense has given up 64 QB hits. Ravens just 49

I don't think its all based off RGIII it will happen if the Skins start to win more no matter who is at QB. With that said I think RGII has another big game and we pull this one off.

The Ravens really aren't that great. Ray Rice carries that offense, in my opinion because Flacco is really hit or miss.

It seems to me that these teams are pretty evenly matched -- two strong, smash mouth RBs, we have a better QB, but they have a better defense. To me, this may come down to whose O-line holds up best -- protect RGIII and carve some holes for Morris, and we can control the ball and do well. Create some pressure on Flacco (which, let's face it, hasn't been our strong suit) and keep Rice from taking over -- in other words, beat up their O-line -- and we ought to win. I don't think they have skills players on offense to make up for shoddy O-line play. Good WRs, but not dominant ones. A very good back, but his numbers lag behind AM1's and a number of other backs in the league. And a QB who is hot and cold. I am thinking Skins 23, Ravens 20. |

Re: Ravens V Redskins - Beltway Brawl or Maryland Massacre?
So I know teams say that they need to hit the QB, but the Ravens think (not without justification -- see the Skins/Bengals and Skins/Falcons games) that they have to hit RGIII to win. Bernard Pollard: Ravens have to hit Robert Griffin III - NFL.com
If I were Shanahan, I might make sure that at the outset of the game to remind the officials to look for cheap, late stuff. It's going to happen, but if the officials clamp down on it early enough, they may prevent stuff from getting out of hand. And we ought to bubble wrap RGIII. |
