Re: Skins sign Patten
He averaged 18 yards per catch in a DIFFERENT OFFENSE. What do you think Coles YPC would have been as a Patriot?

Re: Skins sign Patten
when the safeties drop down to help against the run and patten is in a one on one , patten can get open most of the time. coles was really strugling to do that .

Coles couldn't hack it on the Pats, not enough balls to go his way, LOL

Re: Skins sign Patten
Monk was defiently a big possession type reciever 6'3" and 215lbs was aa big WR back in the day, as for Patton he's more of a ricky Sander's type player he will stretch the defense. so long as his contract is reasonable I like the signing I still believe we have to go out and get that big reciever possession type reciever to give Ramsey a big target in the red zone.

Re: Skins sign Patten
The Smurfs are back!
I'm so happy to have added David Patten! I was scared with the Redskins recent past that we'd pick up Burress. Patten is a proven WR where as Burress is about as reliable as Gardner in the catch department while being quite speedy on the flats. Burress like Gardner seems to fail in properly excuting his routes consistantly. Patten can fly and will catch most balls. And what is the stat last season? 37 1st downs on 44 catches? Uh noone on our team can top that. Burress? Hell no. Patten is good person and a proven great player who we didn't have to spend ridiculous money for. He's got 3 rings, same as Gibbs. Although Patten never lost a SB. Great signing. Rabach great signing. Please sign Smoot. I just hope that Fred agrees to somewhere close to 10 million then add incentives on to make it a possible 14 million and stays in DC. I'm not surprised by Pierce going to NYG cause we couldn't afford to pay him what they did, however they paid to have the leader of Williams defense. Division rival defensive team leader... If the guy was in a wheelchair it might be advantageous to sign him! Reguardless of what Pierce spills to the enemy (by the way Pierce coulda been a Redskin for life with good money) we can still blitz Manning.

Re: Skins sign Patten
patten is seriously under rated i think, and he was the #1 WR for a while in NE last year and remained consistant whether he got the #1 or #2 CB, so i think he's probably more important than just a #2 WR.. a smurf for sure, but he can play.

Patten Signing
Not alot of talk about this on here??? I think this is a significant addition to the team. Experience and productivity are the bright spots not too mention speed. Good possession receiver for some crossing routes.
What does everyone think?

Re: Patten Signing
this is the 3rd-4th thread, general feeling is its a very very solid pickup, but we're still taking williams if he's available.
realy patten is capable of being a better #1 than a player like S. moss, but he's an excellent #2 and can provide the deep route seperation coles is no longer able to... oh yeah, he can also catch the ball, which is always a plus. |

Re: Patten Signing
Why would we draft defense? The obvious need are on offense. Especially a big posession WR. I agree with That Guy, if Mike Williams is still on the board at #9 we would be stupid, dumb, retarded to not draft him.

Re: Patten Signing
maybe we'd consider trading down and considering defense if williams was gone... but if he's there i really can't see us passing him up.
