Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months
Exactly, and if it slides out of place, it cant provide the support. If it cant provide support, and you put your weight on it, twist it, etc., youre more likely to injure it. When Griffin left the game the first time (didnt miss any plays) and went into that horribly tacky looking plywood shack, it was to put his brace back on properly because it had slipped out of place. When he came back in, he was limping 10 times worse than he was before. Seems to me the brace falling out of place, allowed his knee to move in ways it wasnt healthy enough for, resulting in his injury, but thats just the assumption i made.

His dad said the AcL wasn't as bad and that they just did they surgery anyway. I guess he's trying to say it wasn't torn all the way? Either way I'm done w the RGIII knee lol.

I would bet that thing was on tighter than a drum, and probably heavily taped up underneath as well. |

Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months
As some reports seem to indicate a partial tear can be worse than a full tear. No guarantee it will heal or get back to 100% at least, and the potential for it to fully tear will always be there. Best to just start from scratch I guess.

Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months
The biggest problem with this development is a repeat of what we saw on the field on Sunday: a fantastic 22 year old star athlete who has a skewed perception of himself as Superman physically capable of super-human feats and a head coach who lacks the guts to force the 22 year old to face reality. I
have no doubt that no matter how the surgery and rehab go, RG3 will declare himself ready for opening day whether that is medically correct or not and no one will have the maturity and guts to tell RG3 to show a reasonable level of caution. |

Someone interviewed on the postgame show also mentioned it, but i dont know if they independantly verified or were just repeating what was said during the broadcast

Regardless of how quickly RGIII recovers, one positive i see is that Cousins will get most - if not all - of the offseason and preseason work. This should really help him develop and mature as a player so, not only will he be more primed for success as our temporary starter, but whenever he moves into the backup role, he'll be more prepared to come in on a moments notice without missing a beat.

There's this awesome free service available to those using the World Wide Web called Google. It allows you to search for information by simply entering a few key words. There are similar services like Bing, Yahoo, etc. I'm not sure if they've been tested but at first use, they seem to be slightly more accurate than extracting information from your anus.

Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months
is anyone else excited that kirk is going to get so much work in the offseason, preseason, and possibly/probably regular season?
silver lining, a great chance to further develop our backup

Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months
Not a guarantee he helps himself. If he plays poorly he'll blow it and lose his chance. Not that I'm saying I want that to happen or that it will….

Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months
He played well against the Browns on one week's worth of practice. I think Cousins will be fine next season after going an entire offseason taking snaps as the starter. He's no RG3, but it's not like he's going to straight out suck.
