Re: Redskins sign former Browns guard Shawn Lauvao
You guys are commiserating on decisions made by the old regime and players acquired by them.
We have new coaching and we're getting new guys. The glass is half full.

I'm saying to take PFF's grades with a serious grain of salt.

Re: Redskins sign former Browns guard Shawn Lauvao
Rotoworld had him as the 10th best guard, so like you said, F**K a ranking, lets see if he can play.

Re: Redskins sign former Browns guard Shawn Lauvao
Per USA Today: $4 million to sign, then bases of 2, 3, 4, and 4 in y1-4.
Pretty player-friendly structure. Even though the guarantee is $4 million, the effective guarantee is two years. Can't save money by releasing him until June 1, 2015. Rich Tandler says exactly $3 million on the 2014 cap, and I'll confirm his math is correct. Also according to USA today, some of the yearly salaries are tied up in workout bonuses (or de-escalators). So $17 million is the max value of the deal, but if Lauvao doesn't hit the workout bonus, he will earn less.

Re: Redskins sign former Browns guard Shawn Lauvao
I read somewhere that he was good in pass protection but struggled in run blocking last season. I really don't know anything about him but if he's a good pass protector that would be a good thing.

I don't know if he's much of an upgrade on LeRibeus or Gettis, but that's because (like the team) I don't know much about LeRibeus or Gettis.

Re: Redskins sign former Browns guard Shawn Lauvao
Oh I knew exactly what you meant, but if they are using the same grading system for everybody and they have Polumbus rated higher than this dude thats not a confidence inspiring move on the redskins part.
Hopefully PFF doesnt know what the hell theyre talking about and the skins do
