Re: Redskins 2017-2018 Season Prediction
Did Tom Brady and offense go out and lay an egg? No. Did Kizer light it up? Also no. Also I never mentioned our record.

Re: Redskins 2017-2018 Season Prediction
8-8 .. give or take a game or two.
Defense - I think the defense will be better but fear an injury to any one of Norman, Kerrigan, Brown or Swearinger will be almost insurmountable. Offense - Bigger learning curve concern is Cousins with Pryor and Doctson. Smaller learning curve concern is Gruden going back to play calling. I kinda like McVay in the box up high and Gruden on the sidelines combo.

And anyway we had a top 5 offense last year without a running game (3rd in the league in yards/game, and even with the redzone issues, 12th scoring) ! Now explain to me how Zach Brown, DJ Swearinger, Cravens playing safety, (or Everett in his 3rd season), Galette being back, Ryan Anderson and Jonathan Allen are not an improvement over what we had last year ? Plus keep in mind on defense a playmaker makes the guys around him look better. IE, I'm aware our DL hasn't been dramatically improved, but Allen making plays and eating double teams will allow other guys to be more efficient. That and pressure from the edge... And better coaching and play calling ! After last season, and an offseason where we did a pretty decent job addressing our needs, I see no reason to expect us to be a garbage team after a few bad offensive drives in preseason. I get being irritated at the offense for not executing this preseason, what I don't get is believing more in those few preseason drives than in the last 2 whole regular seasons. And if we do want to give a lot of credit to what we saw in the preseason, let's not forget our defense did look dramatically improve, and this is what I wanted to see after last year !

Re: Redskins 2017-2018 Season Prediction
I'll say somewhere between 7-9 and 9-7. It mostly depends on how we do in close games, Carolina went like (rough guesses here, bear with me) 6-1 during close games 2 years ago and went 2-6 last year. I ain't saying we're on the Panthers level but those close games will be the difference. I'm still not sold on the D and I think we will be off to another slow start given the offensive regression. We should pick it up by midseason and hopefully finish strong but it ain't gonna be fireworks out the gate.

Re: Redskins 2017-2018 Season Prediction
well there are a few of us who think this team is not ready for prime time..as far as a true fan I've been a fan since 1969 so whatever...I just am tired of thinking we are ready to be a ABOVE AVERAGE 80% chance of making playoffs when in fact we are not. We fumbled the QB negotiations ..we fumbled the Scotty deal..we don't look to smart with the Doctson pick..most of the fan base HATES the owner. The home field advantage has been deemed not so much of a advantage..The best players on team..T Williams already been suspended for drugs..Reed can't stay healthy..Cousins can't or won't sign long term deal..we lose our top 2 Wideouts..we have a brutal schedule..so excuse me if i don't think this years team is not going to win division title. This year Im going the opposite approach Im convincing myself this team is not good..that way IF they start winning I will be happy..IF NOT then its what i thought all along and I won't be disappointed.

Re: Redskins 2017-2018 Season Prediction
this is always tough to separate my homerism from my analytical side
Positives: good draft, with some awesome talent good position coaches: Tomsula , Callahan, Gray solid TE's got more athletic at ILB & S Hopkins looked solid in pre-season Unknowns: how big is the void the McVay depature will leave on scheme Gruden calling plays (he was 4-12 the last time he did that) how much of Kirk's success was related to Djax & Garcon? Manusky's more aggressive scheme - will it really work? Do we have a true kick returner on the roster? Downright Negatives: Never seriously addressed the NT position freaking run blocking still sucks Dalls & NYG were better than us last year and Philly looks improved Too many unknowns for me to feel good, especially after not seeing any life during the pre-season. So, for those reasons...I'll say 7-9 |

Re: Redskins 2017-2018 Season Prediction
We're still not strong up the middle on either side on the lines, that's my biggest concern. I think the offense will be just as good stat wise. I think our defensive back 7 will be way better. If the middle of the D can hold up and our red zone scoring improves we'll be pretty damn good.
I want guards, centers, and nose tackles drafted in 2018.

I don't like the starting LG, C combo of Lavaou and Long. But we need better depth at both positions, I want good backups too, like we have at LT.

5-11, just do not see much to look forward to. if we fail,it is stupid to let the madness continue next season.
