Re: rams postgame
I'd expect Kirk to throw more against OAK, they have a bad pass D.

Re: rams postgame
Defense is better but Cousins played horribly. I don't know what it is, but he looked nervous. Every time he snapped the ball under center it looked like he was going to fumble it. If he doesn't settle down we will lose a lot of games, because there were a lot of (easy) missed opportunities and other teams won't forgive you. Also the problem with our WRs is worrying to say the least.

Re: rams postgame
I have to give Gruden a lot of credit for the game plan. The Rams have elite pass rushers but undersized run defenders. Running at them was the best approach and they found a way to be successful.
Btw, it was almost a home game at the Coliseum. Lots of B&G in the stadium!!! |

Was hilarious. There was an audible "DE-FENSE!" chant during multiple occasions.

Re: rams postgame
I am so glad that Gruden finally decided to do what he said he was going to do and run the ball. And man, I'm telling you, this was like old Redskins football. I'm talking about John Riggins-Joe Gibbs football with the counter-trey and so forth. It worked like a charm. Of course, just like with our luck, Rob Kelley goes down with broken ribs! Really??? I hope Perine will catch on. I think it took Kelley a couple games to get his legs under him, so hopefully Perine will have some better runs. It looked like toward the end, he kind of started gaining some steam. The defense also looks really good too!
The bad thing though, when Ryan Grant is your go-to go, that isn't good news. Crowder needs to stay the slot guy, because that's where he excels at. Doctson needs to start playing some football and Pryor needs to learn to catch. It's hard to say if Cousins looks mediocre because of the lack of talent at wide receiver, or if he looks bad because he's struggling? Maybe it's a little of both, but this is a good litmus test to really find out what we have with Kirk Cousins. Still a long season ahead of us, but when you're staring down Oakland, KC, and Philly after the break, I don't like those odds.

(Love him anyway, been a firm believer in him last season. Called Cooley and Kevin after week 1 in the preseason to say i wanted him and Zach brown to start at ILB.) EDIT: my bad, rewatched, definitely Everett. Positives: -Playcalling on both sides of the ball -O line play!!! -Matt Ioannidis (not the MVP of the game but it's a nice surprise, which we needed at DL) -Defense overall Negatives: -Dropped passes -A little too much missed tackles to my taste Again, if this D starts consistently wrapping up, this a tough and solid D !

Re: rams postgame
I'm not worried about Rob Kelley one way or another, he's completely replacement level in my mind. Meaning Mack Brown or Perine could step in and do the job just as well.
I guess Kelley's a little better in pass pro but Thompson will still be the third down guy anyway.

Re: rams postgame
On some of those runs that Kelly broke I couldn't help but think if it was Thompson, or maybe even Perine, they would have went for much longer runs. On one he had the defender one on one in the open and it seems like he just ran into him, instead of putting a move on him or breaking out to the sideline. I like Kelley's toughness and ability to get the hard, tough yards, but he is just a guy.

Re: rams postgame
Has Mack Brown been elevated? Any news on that?

Re: rams postgame
Sorry - I meant activated. And I hope you're right. Let's see if a training camp stud can transform into a regular season one.
