Re: Thank You Kirk Cousins Thread
If he was going to be a starter somewhere else he would have went well before the 4th round. Teams don't wait for 6th round to get a guy they think it's a legit great NFL QB.

I want a QB that gets that he has to earn it, he's not held on a pedestal, and the team comes first. I want a QB that doesn't get bitter because they have to compete and is focused on building something more than getting paid like he feels he should. His motivation is pretty clear to me. He gets fired up to prove that he should be paid more. He reacted to that very passionately, but how passionately did he react to not making the playoffs? He was always talking about the process because that mattered to him more, because that's how he improves as an individual player, and it's easier to project your value when you're losing by focusing on the process and how you're constantly improving. He was making excuses for not winning because he wanted to be valued. I value winners. I'm not saying that record is all that matters, I mean this passion that motivates you needs to be to win not to prove your worth or it will affect your and your teams performance. I'm not suggesting by any means that he was a locker room cancer or anything. I'm sure he's very focused and professional, but if winning doesn't come first than you're not my QB...good bye. He gone. Can't wait to see Alex Smith (a San Diegoite) light it up for us. Our qb is from San Diego and I played with our qb coach at SDSU and he's from SD area as well. HTTR!!!

Cousins was drafted because he was a good QB. Whatever Mike Shanahan's plans were, the idea of pigeonholing anyone to "be a good little team mate", or OTOH that he was guaranteed to be a starter for another team is....... Just stop giantone, please. This line of thinking isn't even vaguely related to what you quoted from me . |

Re: Thank You Kirk Cousins Thread
Espn fun with numbers on how many extra wins Cousins is estimated to be worth to possible suitors.
NFL - How many wins would Kirk Cousins add to his various suitors? |

Re: Thank You Kirk Cousins Thread
The NFL is a business. It is a $9billion dollar a year business. The owners get city and states to spend tax payer dollars to build the Stadiums for them. They strong arm and threaten their home city that they will move if they do not get a sweetheart deal. That is the "loyalty" the teams show.
Now you are upset that a player wants his freedom from the team that has owned his rights his entire 6 year working career? What is so wrong with a good player wanting to be a free agent after 6 years and finally getting the chance to test the open market? Good for Kirk. |
