I had such high hopes for Del Rio. Anywhere he has gone the D has improved. Good teams or not. He always makes a difference. Here not so much. Not as much as i was hoping for.... |

Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
I don't know. They were ranked 27th in the league in both total yards allowed and points allowed per game last year. This year they are ranked 6th and 10th respectively. I'd say they have improved, despite not having a normal offseason, minicamps, OTAs, preseason... That's quite a turn around 10 games into this season.

Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
The D has definitely improved, I think it’s easy to forget how bad things were last year when they gave up big play after big play

Chase Young hasn't been lined up at free safety this year, that alone is significant progress.

I dont read too far into numbers. Never have. They do not tell the whole story. Like i said they did not improve as much as I would have liked. Maybe I expected too much. I hear you about lack of an off-season but that goes for every offense we have faced too so that is a wash. Honestly this year is weird. Next year we are going to see if the D is legit or not. Im not giving up by any means just expected more.... |

Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Its also worth pointing out how a poor offense hurts a D. More time on the field etc., not to mention some of the sort fields that have been handed to the opposition. A more consistent O and thus D would look better.

Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
I think the Giants take the division. They have been trending up and likely will hold the division edge over the rest. It likely only takes 6 wins to be the NFC East champ this year.

Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Having quality LB play would make the difference in the eye test. They're asked to be so versatile, hands in the dirt, cover a TE or RB and I don't think we have that.

One guy that I would love to keep is Settle, I think he’s better than Allen.

Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Settle would definitely start on a lot of teams. He's gonna get a nice, well deserved paycheck. He is one of my favorite guys on the team.
