Re: Eagles ink McCants?
Well, last year on only 45 catches Moss had 5 scores. Still pretty effective for a short guy.
I think this need for a big WR thing is really overblown. Besides, most of the time our offense sputtered in the redzone because we couldn't convert short yardage situations. We had Gardner last year, if being tall is all that was needed, why didn't we just toss it to him down there? There's obviously more to being successful in the redzone than just having a tall WR. |

Re: Eagles ink McCants?
how often did we even get near in redzone last year? Patten, Moss, Portis and the new line seem they can actually get us there this season. we've always had trouble punching it; there's no denying a physical, clutch (not "50-50") target in the slot or the edge would really open up the defense for Cooley and Portis. it could help Ramsey throw less risky passes in there as well.
it seemed all we had last year was possession receivers, and we never took it downfield. only reason i'm saying all this is because i'm excited about our totally new offense, i think we'll get a lot more scoring opportunities this year. still, having a collection of speedsters and not having an Art Monk type on the roster could be a concern; it's already been written about. we may have the talent to compensate, who knows, but in football thats an established role that we don't have filled. |
