Gibbs said that he wishes everyone in the town was focused on philly. Well with this shit i know that isn't gonna happen and it is not easy. Ofcourse it is a distraction. Lavar going into this game and thinking it might be his last game of his career(that is where he acts like a pre madonna)is a distraction.

Gibbs said ifanyone would say somehting like that now it is rediculous. So i will go by what gibbs said. It -being lavar- is rediculous. I road his band wagon to the ground. The thing is he does love the fans and we do love him. i don't know what the **** he is talking about. The fact is we can't cut him. Maybe he learned that the cap situation favors the redskins by a lot like the reporter said-6.5 million- and now is scared this might be his last game as a skin. If the cap is the way i think it is then lavar will be here next year and now NOW he has a problem with management. I think that he still is GREAT not good great and i don't need to saythat he is my favorite player anymore because he is LAVAR ARRINGTON the face of the redkins.

I just want him here next year playing for us with him mouth shut.
GoodNESS. If I buy you a beer will you calm the hell down?

Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career

The Washington Times is a poor excuse for a newspaper. They could've really capitalized on the strained relations between the Redskins and the Wash. Post, but they didn't, choosing instead to stick to sub-standard reporting.

Lavar is right - the timing of this article is deplorable. I believe him when he says that a writer can spin things to convey a certain point of view. Lavar is rightly concerned and frustrated about his future with the organization, but he's made it clear that its about winning the upcoming game first and making the playoffs.

Bottom line: a win against Philly, and all this will be forgotten (at least till our season ends).

Note to Jeremiah: You do not talk about our team and players. Since when are you a talent assessor and linebackers coach? Take your tail to the damp and cold NFC east cellar and live out the offseason.

Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career

Lavar Arrington will not have the same physical capabilities as he once did with the injuries he's suffered in the past years. It's pretty obvious if you look at what he's saying , but like any man with too much pride, he's attempting to blame somebody else for his own shortcomings. Lavar proves that he is not a true Redskin, despite the fact that he believes fans view him as some sort of Brett Farve or Ray Lewis, when he airs out his issues at the most inopportune time of the year.

For all that talk about Smoot, Bailey, Stephen Davis, etc.

I actually was pretty pleased with how Daniel Snyder dealt with them. Although Champ Bailey has done well for the Broncos, he has not been the one player to put them over the top. The two times the Broncos played the Colts in the playoffs, Manning and the passing attack ripped them apart. Snyder and the Front Office do deserve some criticism for giving up an additional 2nd round pick in the Bailey-Portis trade, instead of just going player for player.

Fred Smoot, although a decent cover corner, is a terrible tackler, and was not worth what he was asking for.

Stephen Davis was a key piece of the puzzle in the Panthers run in 2003, but Jake Delhomme, Steve Smith, and that defense played a Bigger role in their success that year. Davis did miss a few games that year as well, and the other RBs they had filled in just fine.

What Snyder has realized, with the help of Greg Williams, is that if you get average to above average players who have a passion for the game, and who initially sign very reasonable contracts, great coaching can make those players much better, and you can do well in this league since these players have a desire to win, and don't have the egos from all the money they are getting.

When we had all those big names, as soon as we reached 5-6, or 3-4, those players lost hope, and started criticizing the coaching staff and looking to next year. Not this team, and not with these players.

The only one person I wish we had kept was Antonio Pierce; I don't feel we handled that situation well by letting him go to a division rivial, but I was glad we didn't give Smoot and Bailey all the dollars they were asking for. I am tired of seeing Bailey pull up with a hamstring or some sort of injury everytime a receiver blows by him.

YOU GUYS HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME! 1st and foremost the guy has really been the face of the franchise for years b4 the clinton's, taylor's, washington's,etc, I really believe that he deserves the benefit of the doubt not only because he speaks from his heart but the fact that it could be very frustrating for someone outside the organization (agents) help destroy his relationship w/ his boss. I truly believe that w/ clemons out we will truly see how much the owner and coaching staff think of him. To me he is one of the top two players on our team, i also believe for once the redskins and gibbs need to do the right thing! WHICH IS KEEP LAVAR AROUND! The dude is a stand up guy who is very humble, i think that i would be really disappointed if we didnt find a way to keep him around.

I just don't understand why people keep sticking up for him with his constant whining in the media.

I can understand his frustrations, but the guy needs to learn when to shut the hell up. The week of a huge game is not the time to be discussing your future with the team.

There will be plenty of time after the season for this. Now is not the time.

I would agree that he has been the face of the Redskins, but the face is no longer an individual it is a team with many good stories to be told. What frustrates me is his arguements are about me, me, me and completely speculitive even according to his account, he does not know what his status is and that could be said for any player in today's free agency, don't cry over a business or career that you chose and has done nothing but pay you well in a 20 mil dollar mansion. I love Lavar, but he is wrong in speculating his future in the middle of a playoff run where he is contributing and playing alot. Maybe we can get Dan Snyder and the whole team to sit down give him a smack on the ass and say we appreciate you man and they all tell their favorite Lavar story to make him feel wanted.

Re: Lavar says he was misquoted - he wants to remain a redskin for his entire career

i,m like joe gibbs on redskins.com tv -this is the first i heard of it and i have no comment on the matter all we are focusing on and should be focusing on is philadelphia.focus,focus,focus- i wouldn,t even give the media the time and day for what it,s worth. especially the naysayers of the media.
and that goes for this entire city focus on this game only.i know i,m ready and focused for sunday.

this sunday is big for us since the 99 season.

Thats why this is all a bunch of bullshit... they are professional shit stirrers thats what the media does and they will use anyone... thats why they released this when they did.. i dont think snyder is worried about the money in anyway or the relationship is poisoned in anyway... they are too close ....snyder is a biz man and thats what he does negotiate...it was biz but snyder loves lavar...but people see aomething on tv and are so quick to judge others.... ie.... keep ur mouth shut.... hell are we in the USA or CHILE?? Its easy to sit in front of your tv where ur life will be the same win or lose and tell someone else how to act or feel.. wonder what you would be saying if it were you and a mic stuck in ur face everytime u move... i would love to see some of these people recorded and spliced and see what comes out of it.... so if u dont talk to the media your damned and if you do your damned ...it's the american way ... judge look down and try to have an opinion on someone elses life...after all he's a pubic figure and i'm watching him so he isn't human ...just shut up even though his whole life could change.....

I can understand and sympathize with both sides of this argument, but I'm still pretty torn.

I've actually had the opportunity to meet Lavar in person in his home and he came across as one of the most humble, down to earth, all around nice guys you'll ever meet. Now I know you can't base a football player's worth on how "nice" he is or on my 15 minute encounter with him, but I am inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I think Lavar was the superstar around here for years, and got used to it. Not through sheer arrogance or pride, but simply because he WAS the best we had and we treated him like it. After his injury he comes back and tries to readjust to a new system where GW does things differently. I think we can be somewhat empathetic and patient with someone who's being placed in an entirely new situation that he's not used to. I think Lavar handled the entire thing with a great deal of class and dignity and minimal "whining" and managed to fight his way back.

The interview with the Times does have bad timing. I'm inclined to blame shoddy Washington Times reporting as much as I am Lavar. Still, I'm not even sure I'd characterize his comments in the article as whining, lack of team spirit or whatever you want to call it. It sounded to me like a guy who has a pretty realistic perspective on his career and future and is just giving an honest answer.

Compared to any number of other NFL stars Lavar has been incredibly mature and a class act about the whole situation.

I think the whole Times article has been blown WAY out of proportion, and we fans are to blame. So he didn't pick the optimal time for an interview - it's not like a 2 page article with relatively benign comments by the player is just going to totally derail this team, demolish their focus and drive and send us spiralling out of the playoffs. I'd certainly hope they're a little more focused than to be so disrupted by something so minor.

Let's not make this in to more than it is.

wells said here....if this derails the team they arent professionals or even humans... its us fans talking i am more than sure the players and staff couldn't give a f_ck...and thats what they do blow things so far out of proportion.... everyone wants that big story..and rating ..and sadly some people follow it like a bad drug

Stay focused I hope you play well and you staying focused helps us win the game. Just a joke!!! I am confused why we as fans can't talk about the playoffs, the superbowl, etc.... I love the skins and bring my fan "A" game every weekend whether it is at the stadium or at home. The same will hold true this week as I watch and cheer from my home. I am flattered that some are worried about another fan getting ahead of themselves only to be hurt if we don't make the playoffs or talk of a playoff game causes us to loose. This forum I don't think has any outcome on this game though the force is strong my son! Skins will come to play and as much as we look ahead or talk about Lavar it is not handled the same in the Skins locker room I am sure. Go skins, beat the hell out of the Eagles and get us a playoff berth!
