Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test

From the most recent post on RI:

And in a twist of irony, Haynesworth actually likes the new defense and Haslett's plans for him in the scheme. Haynesworth's concern about the unknown, in large part, prompted him to stay away from Ashburn for most of the offseason, resulting in the current situation.

Unreal. He likes the defense now. So if he hadn't stomped his feet and pouted like a child and just shown up for all the OTA's, he would have found out from the get-go that he'd like his new position on the line, he wouldn't have had to deal with this conditioning test mess, and there would be no drama.

This guy is the biggest mega-turd around. I can't ever remember dislking a Redskin player this much. And that's including Deion Sanders.

RI is considerably late to the game here, Haslett and Haynesworth spoke a few times during the off-season and, while initially frustrated, Haynesworth said he now got it and was excited. And pumped for mini-camp. And then he didn't show up

I agree that Jason Reid isn't exactly Johnny Newsflash. RI is pretty weak actually. I understand that AH was excited based on his conversations with Haslett way back in the spring. It's just even more frustrating to read how he really likes the defense after simply showing up and seeing his role in person.

It's just such a fail when you think about how easily all this crap could have been avoided.

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test

I think at the end of the day, Haynesworth is frustrated because he came here thinking he would be The Man, since he was courted as such. And then Shanahan came in and basically said The Man here is me. The rest of you have to earn it. And Al's thinking "I already earned it. How do you think I got this contract?" But now he's got to earn it all over again.

Albert Haynesworth keeps 'doing the same thing'

During Friday's morning practice at Redskins Park, Albert Haynesworth again wore a helmet and again was without pads. He participated in a turnover drill with his teammates, but otherwise, it was status quo.

After practice, Coach Mike Shanahan reiterated that nothing has changed.

"He's been doing the same thing. He's been getting a few reps and individual work -- the same thing he's been doing," Shanahan said.

Following a negative MRI result on Haynesworth's knee, Shanahan also said nothing's changed for the defensive tackle on the injury front.

"Same thing I said yesterday." Shanahan said. "He's getting treatment and hopefully he just keeps improving."

Rookie left tackle Trent Williams appeared to tweak a hip during practice and at one point was lying down on the sideline working with a trainer.

"He felt a little tight but it should not keep him from working," Shanahan said.

Shanahan said he's hopeful that wide receiver Malcolm Kelly and right tackle Jammal Brown will be back at full strength for practice on Monday.

"Keeping my fingers crossed that with good treatment and good rehab that they'll go on Monday," he said. "I'm not positive, though."

Shanahan also said that wide receiver Mike Furrey, who hasn't practiced since Tuesday morning, is still suffering from the effects of a concussion. The team is being careful with Furrey, who has sustained a concussion in the past. Nose tackle Howard Green also didn't practice.

Cornerback Carlos Rogers was held out of the morning session for rest. Over the course of the week, a few players were given some time off.

Do you think this knee issue is bs and this is just a continuing pissing contest between the two(Shanny)? With the MRI showing nothing (which Im glad about), but as this knee issue has dragged now for a week that this is just petty bullsh*t. Id really like this story to be over yesterday. Albert really looking more and more like a b*tch the further he refuses to take this test.

I think his knee probably is hurting him. However, I think he's one of those athletes who struggles with the difference between playin hurt and being injured

Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test

He's had swelling in the knee and he's been advised to rest it by the team doctors, so he's not BS'ing it. The MRI simply showed there's no structural damage, but that doesn't mean there can't be other issues such as fluid in the knee. The issue comes down to can he push through it.

Not so sure what has you so convinced? But, for the most part when your hurt your hurt not "he was flying" on a treadmill. If you can flat out get it on a treadmill you can get through a few sprints, well at least most that cared about there job/team would. He doesn't fall in that category.

I'm not buying Fat al's BS!

An MRI exam Thursday of Haynesworth's sore knee revealed no structural damage, and the feeling among many at Redskins Park is that the two-time all-pro should have already passed the test. Although perplexed team officials acknowledge Haynesworth probably is experiencing knee irritation, sources say, they do not believe his pain rises to a level that would prevent him from passing the test of two, timed 300-yard shuttle runs.

Moreover, Haynesworth has not even attempted the test since Monday, and his last strong effort occurred July 30. The nine-year veteran's decision to delay retesting is unsettling to the Redskins, especially in light of the encouraging MRI exam and Thursday's performance on a treadmill in which "he was flying," one source said.

He may be BS'ing how much pain he can or is willing to handle, but he's not BS'ing swelling in the knee.

Well, if he's hauling ass on a treadmill, hitting the sled, and doing individual drills, IMO there's no excuse for the fact that he hasn't even attempted the test in a week.

He hasn't attempted the test because he knows he can't pass it. Not now, or in a million years. He doesnt have it in him.

I fully believe he's physically capable of doing it. Question is how much heart does the guy have?

He did pass it in Tennessee. And he ran it fast enough on day one dang potty break.

At this point I think it is just a simple willpower match, and I don't see either guy backing down. If he isn't traded, he could very well be inactive against dallas if he hasn't conceded by then.
