It's hard to tell right now since EVERY source seems to have a ton of different , yet unofficial , lists.

This guy could be a darkhorse and has roots in the DC area having been an assistant at Maryland and JMU.

James Franklin has been a miracle worker at Vanderbilt. A friend of mine played for him when he was WR coach at Idaho State ('99) and says his motivation skills are off the charts. Definitely a dark horse, but if we're casting a wide net, he deserves a look.

If Griff didnt go to Baylor, and there wasnt all this talk about DS catering to his "diva" qb, etc - would everyone be so against Briles?

Not as opposed (though there are many other reasons to be opposed) but then again he probably wouldn't be a candidate either. Don't hear his name discussed anywhere else, even Houston where he would make the most sense.

My main opposition to Briles has nothing to do with RGIII. Briles has no NFL experience of any kind and IMO (and hopefully Snyderallen agree) this is a dealbreaker.

If he said he was going to import his staff straight from Baylor and not add anyone with NFL experience to it, I'd agree with you. But there's no way he gets offered the job if that's his plan.

Yes. I would 100% be against this move. I don't want any college coaches. Plenty of qualified NFL guys that can do the job here.

Still wouldn't want em, I just don't think he's an NFL guy

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)

I remember when G Williams left DC he said something like you never know what can happen down the road and he might be back. His defense won that SB as much as Payton/Brees offense. Hard to find that kind of experience IMO. Is there another candidate who's been part of a SB winning team?

And it doesn't require an offensive HC to maximize RG's potential. Belichick is a defensive guru, and I'd say his mentors hip of Brady has been pretty solid. Another similarity between belichick and Williams, both were very underwhelming in their first HC experiences.

I keep reading about teams asking for permission to talk to candidates and I'm not seeing the Redskins mentioned in any of these stories
What are they waiting for? There's five open positions and only so many candidates and assistants to be had, we need to get moving
I am worried as much about the assistant coaches as I am the head coach, I'm afraid there will be slim pickings left
