A high ego college coach, used to having college kids depend on his every word, couldn't stand a nonconforming attitude in his locker room. Not the first time a new NFL HC made a dumb decision on a star player, but it is up there with Spurrier's bringing in his college qb's.

So , not everyone loved him .To me it's some of the players now don't want to listen to authority ,coaches ,owners .My question to you if he won't listen Chip Kelly ,why will he listen to coach Gruden

There was a good article on the personalities involved a while back. Jackson has been a high performer under Reid and Kelly so my question is why wouldn't he be under Gruden? To answer your question, I don't think Jackson respected Kelly like the media that fawns over Kelly, he saw him as a college coach who doesn't understand the way the NFL does things(partly my opinion partly from the aforementioned article). So maybe Jackson gave lip for coming in on Tuesdays when every other team was off, or stuff like that, but on the field he performed. I also think Gruden sought out Jackson, much like Reid did. and for a guy who wants his importance to be recognized, that builds trust and relationship, something Kelly by most accounts did not have with him.

If he doesnt listen to the tune of 82 receptions for 1332 yards and 9 TD's, I doubt most Redskins fans will care. Of course those stats means he was listening since he had to learn a brand new and pretty complicated offense in one offseason.

I have said it before and will say it again, Chip Kelly believes that as long as he has the right QB, that he can put in anyone into his offense and get close to those stats. Chip thinks its about his offense, not the talent playing in it. So why would he pay the money that DeSean was signed to prior to his arrival in Philly?

The article I particularly remember said that Maclin, who apparently has a reputation for a solid work ethic, was no fan of DJax. Certainly, there were plenty of reports about DJax dogging it when he was up for contract renewal a couple years ago.

Is any of it true? I have no clue. I haven't heard any complaints from Skins players so maybe it was all part of the spin some folks over at Eagle Land trying to sell. You don't believe it. Fine. I hope you're right. To date, it does not appear to be a problem.

Finally, don't ever again imply or otherwise allege I am a racist or blatant hypocrite. I am not "making it up" as you assert, but, rather, am making the comparison based on my recollection of various articles I have read on DJax over the years. Not much I can do but hit the ignore button on you but it is incredibly offensive to me for you to start down that road.

Chip Kelly will find out. NFL production is fleeting. You can get a player with Jackson's physical attributes but for one reason or another this player will never be as productive. Every year there is a new speed demon. We found a productive player keep him. A Jackson in hand is worth more than a potential Jackson replacement until the replacement makes Coughlin's face turn red.

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson

they had a philly sports radio talking head on the local radio here and he said by all accounts d jax was liked and did what he was told to do.

he did say that chip kelly required all of his wide receivers to know the playbook for each WR position and d jax showed up to camp not bothering to have studied them and he was bumped down the depth chart for a few days until d jax got up to speed.

what happened in philly is in the past. d jax' contract is signed. if we dont like him after 2 years, we can easily divorce.

I apologize, I was listening to Ludacris getting it in on Bill O'Reilly. I like the conservative argument style. I used to use that technique in college to score women. Say what you think they want to hear, truth be damned.

I completely agree!

DJax was a good pickup, and if it doesn't work out, the contract let's out out easily.

What a weak article, it is an insider article so here is the concluding paragraphs as to why they won't miss Jackson:

Bottom line:

The Eagles' brain trust is quite savvy. It would not have let the team's most prolific receiver go without having some sort of replacement plan in order, and in this case the Eagles have four elements in place to offset the loss.

Barring a string of injuries, this all but guarantees Philadelphia's offense will not miss DeSean Jackson in 2014.

They gave 4points:
1)Maclin.
2)heavier emphasis on run (even though they noted the eagles were already 4th in running plays)
3)Sproles- I wanted Sproles but the have McCoy Sproles keeps the defenders IN the box Jackson forced them out.
4) incorporating their tight ends. again that's the short game.

My bottomline is that without Jackson defenses will play to keep everything upfront and not really fear the deep threat and this isn't the same braintrust that worked with Andy Reid.

I will admit it if the season turns out differently but I expect Philly's offense to take a sharp decline.

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson

^I literally laughed out loud when I seen the title, "Eagles won't miss DeSean Jackson." But I don't have ESPN Insider, so I didn't know what the article brought out until now. Thanks for posting.

To say that the Eagles won't miss Jackson is ridiculous. Their FA and draft additions as well as the returning Maclin might... might... replace Jackson's total production, but the explosiveness and big play ability that he offered won't be matched. The Eagles's offense in terms of total yards and points was good last season, but what made it so special was the explosiveness; it won't be the same this season.

Replacing DeSean Jackson's explosive plays will be nearly impossible for the 2014 Eagles

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson

Yeah, that's absurd. Just having a WR who can take the top of the defense a la Jackson makes every other weapon on an offense more potent. Jeremy Maclin is a good receiver but I think he's going to get exposed a little this year with Jackson not lining up on the opposite side.
