Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Even if we do get Flynn, he can't be our only QB plan, right? We'd still need to draft a QB high IMO.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
^ Aggreed Flynn is not the end all-be all for this team See Matt Cassel, he may be nothing more then a system QB who looked good in one game.

Lorenzo Alexander was on Ch 4 tonight saying the Skins should go after Flynn.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
While I don't know college football at all, from his highlights I tend to agree that RGIII seems to be the kind of talent worth mortgaging the teams future.
With that said, if he truly is the phenom he seems to be, is there any chance that the Colts draft him over Luck? New GM and Coach might think he's a better fit. And if he's not good enough to be in the same conversation as Luck, is he still worth mortgaging the teams future? |

I cannot understand what the knock is on RGIII. Because of the hype? I know there's a lot of hyped players who tanked. Should that hurt his draft stock? For every JaMarcus Russell & Ryan Leaf, there's a Cam Newton & Peyton Manning. Then the whole skill set argument not fitting Shanny's system. Come on! He's a mobile, pin point passer with a dangerous deep ball. Hello. He's not a run first QB, but he is an elite scrambler. I don't understand the criticism either that he ran the spread in college. You know who else ran the spread in college and it's translated well to the pros? Drew Brees. Of course, I'm on the RGIII bandwagon. I would love a high character leader for this team who can straight up ball. If his playmaking ability and leadership transfer over to the pros, he will inspire the team and win more games for us. Wouldn't we all like to see some inspired football for a change? If he's not the franchise QB, I still think the team needs to do whatever it takes to find one, and then, plug up the holes. That's how important a franchise QB is in this league. Last edited by theJBexperience; 01-17-2012 at 09:02 PM. |

Count me in on the "let's go get our qb at whatever cost" bandwagon. The NFL today is a qb driven league, and we don't have one. Let's not settle this time.

I feel like a lot of people have changed their opinion on the whole trade picks to get your QB idea. I don't remember such a groundswell of support for Cutler

And I have changed my tune. I thought before that we needed to create more depth, make a real team. Even then I argued mildly for a Bradford draft trade-up. Now, it seems to me, is the time to add the most important piece. The supporting cast is not the best but it is not bad either. It's time to add the lynchpin.

Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
Roy Helu, Evan Royster, Leonard Hankerson, Fred Davis, Chris Cooley, that's a pretty good young supporting cast. Throw in a FA WR and/or a 3rd round WR or LaMichael James along with RGIII and we could be st for a while.

U could be right though. Maybe he's not all that. I remember a lot of posts during the tail end of the Jason Campbell era arguing that we shouldn't draft a QB until we had a solid foundation in place. What if the Skins kept all their picks and built up the Offense this off-season with the exception of QB. Wouldn't they be in a much better position to draft a franchise QB next year? Imagine all 8 picks and free agency going towards O-line, WR, Secondary and LB. And then next season bundle a bunch of picks to trade up for Matt Barkley or someone else. By that time, they should have a bonafide #1 and #2 WR to go along with a re-tooled O-line and more depth on Defense. Less holes would make it more palatable to trade picks to move up in the draft. Then, their rookie QB would step into an ideal situation. I know the arguments about the Shanny's needing to win now or else the whole things gets blown up, and I'm not necessarily proposing this. Just saying it wouldn't be the end of the world to manage through one more season to come out on the other end with a solid team from top to bottom. I envision the Redskins more in the mold of the Giants, Ravens and 49ers (solid all around) than the tecmo-bowl type teams of the Pats, Packers and Saints. Any takers? Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search
LaMichael James would be a nice addition. I wonder what round he'll drop to. Wouldn't mind taking a chance late on one of the Gators' speedsters either.

High five on the Tannehill-Flynn choice.
