Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
“I think everybody got some mixed messages; I will say that,” Thompson said on ESPN’s 980, via the Washington Post. “I know for me, talking to Kirk, being with Kirk, all we talked about was, you know, ‘C.T., with you staying healthy, we can do this with you; we can do that with you,’ and we were able to do a lot of the things that Kirk wanted to do with me. We wanted to continue this, so for me, I expected him to be here. I knew it would be hard given that we want to win, but if you pay a guy [$30 million] a year, it’s going to sacrifice some other things as well, as far as helping our defense out, maybe getting some more receivers, or running backs and all those type of things. It’s kind of hard to say. I think everybody got a different feel about it, but I know Kirk enjoyed being with me, and I enjoyed being with him, so I wanted him to be here and I think part of him wanted to be here, but at the end of the day, you gotta do whatever you think is best for you and your family.”
So sounds like CT is saying Kirk is all about the $$$, I can't blame the guy but still it shows the team wanted to keep him. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...mixed-messages

Because, until we can finally put to bed any remote chance of the 'skins doing some sort of tag and trade, there's still some conversation to be had. I mean, it would be an unusual move for a team to do this, but it's been an unusual situation with Cousins anyway.

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
With Jimmy getting 137M over 5 years, Kirk would have gotten at least $140M over 5 maybe more. Someone will pay him that and they will regret it, just like SF will Jimmy.

Jimmy G, $27.5M per season. Smith at $23.5M is looking pretty good.

I think both qbs will perform well. I dont think the teams will regret it at all. Thats the market now, either pay who you like and want or sign someone less talented. Simple as that.

Re: The FINAL Kirk Cousins Saga thread. 5.0
I just can't wrap my head around someone paying Cousins near 30 million. He is just not worth it. When are these salaries for the QB's going flatline?

We've seen the best of KC and there is enough game to know exactly what you are getting. Garoppolo arrived midseason for a 1 win team and won 5 in a row with three of those wins against playoff teams. Garoppolo has a higher upside and is younger while KC is durable but is also a "Trust the process" QB. I think Garoppolos momentum got him that contract and Kirks image has taken a hit lately. I'm probably wrong since I thought he was going to get 28M Per last week but things have changed overnight. |
