Re: Update: McCain Selects Gov. Sarah Palin as Running Mate

Its not a good time for me to talk about taxes because I just had to write three big checks to pay federal/State withholding and a penalty check for $238.34 because my last months payment check was two days late. People wonder why I won't vote for Obama because he is going to raise my taxes and I don't care if he says he is not but small business is going to get hit.

If any of is not clear or doesn't make sense I apologist.
You don't think Yahoo maintains better security protocols than Alaska's state IT dept?

As evident by the hacking I would have to say no, I don't think they maintain better security protocols. Off course it all depends who they hired to manage their IT department. Knowing how Palin operates I would not be supprised if one of her high school friends got the head IT department job because they love "browsing the web."

BTW I don't see how your question is relevant or supportive of your position.

Perhaps you should take the responsibility of sending Uncle Sam his money more seriously? Next time he just might send IRS agents to break your legs.

I'm not "getting at" anything. I just thought it was an interesting question to ponder.

Just an aside. I'd assume that she was "hacked" by either being a typical sloppy pc user or someone with access to accounts at yahoo gave her up. Regardless, my point is that I couldn't less if she's conducting business using her sexchick69@looseskanks.com so long as her policies are sound and she is actually a "reformer." Those two last points are VERY much up in the air. My concern is that we make mountains out of molehills and ignore actual issues. To me, this is a joke of an issue. It's equivalent to bitching because someone wears jeans to work. It's the work that matters, not the superficial stuff...

If they found any watergate type stuff going on, then I would 100% agree with you. But there was nothing shady from what I've seen.

This isn't the answer you want, but I wouldn't vote for either of these two candidates. Both policies are detrimental to the economy.

'A' sounds like a democrat, and 'B' sounds like a republican -- that's why I vote third party.

I understand what you're saying but I strongly disagree with prejudice. Realize that you're condoning the circumvention of document retention laws and breaking the law.

Here's how she was hacked:
Palin E-Mail Hacker Says It Was Easy | Threat Level from Wired.com
Quote:
As detailed in the postings, the Palin hack didn't require any real skill. Instead, the hacker simply reset Palin's password using her birthdate, ZIP code and information about where she met her spouse -- the security question on her Yahoo account, which was answered (Wasilla High) by a simple Google search.

But, after thinking about the ripple effect such a massive failure would have on the economy, you realize that despite your philosophical objections there really isn't another option. I mean, I watch Man Vs Wild all the time. The guy drinks his own urine in order to survive, but that doesn't mean that he can't bitch about the taste it leaves in his mouth.

That said, I understand McCain's initial reaction because I shared it. I would assume that one of his many advisers briefed him and gave him additional perspective therefore he changed his mind. The principles of "small government" do not condone buying up companies in the manner which we have recently seen. Any person that would be all about backing these big corporations with taxpayer money and not at least voice some apprehension would worry me. Again, nothing I'm saying is an attack on Obama, more of a general defense that no one person is going to automatically know the correct course of action. The willingness to listen and then have an informed opinion is of great benefit and one of the primary qualities I look for in a leader.

And regarding Hooskin's comment about "flip flopping," I thought that was the most ridiculous criticism made during the last election and I have not changed that opinion. The term literally gives me a migraine every time I hear/read it. I see nothing wrong with someone becoming more educated on a subject and changing their mind. I have a real hard time with someone so dedicated to dogma that they refuse to see the forest for the trees.
That, and let's not act as if they are now OWNED by the government. They are going to have to pay the interest on this loan in order to say in business. Granted, the U.S. government had to either grant them a loan to buy them time and get it turned around, or let them file for bankruptcy, but it's not as if the U.S. government is now running the day to day operations of AIG.

Because that would be a total disaster.

I think I am a "Law and Order" kind of guy, but I think this story is a non-story. If Obama used his government computer to send a personal e-mail, I wouldn't scream "misappropriation of government resources!" In other words.....there's nothing to see here folks, move along.

Why is it that we've reached the point where people jump at the tiniest opening to attack their opponent. "He lied about a BJ!" "She used her yahoo account instead of her alaska.gov account to send an e-mail!" "He said lipstick!" I call BS on all of that phony BS outrage.

But SGG, emails exist from the governor's team advising Palin employees to use personal emails so as to avoid the potential for subpoena. This was always about subverting the rule of law and clouding transparency. You don't think this is behavior unbecoming of an elected executive? After the secrecy of the last 8 years you don't think this is kind of a big deal?
