Also in the scheme of things if we went 2-6 or 4-4 before the bye, what difference does that make? 4-12 or 8-8 isn't going to get you invited to the big playoff party. THe loss of two picks in 2011 set us back a bit for rebuilding the offensive line.
This organization has given away alot more pick and gotten a lot less in return than they have for the 2 pick they gave for DM. This year in the NFC 8-8 might just do the trick and who know they could get luck and get to 9-7, with DM they actually have a shot at getting lucky, with JC they had no shot at anything.

How do you figure? DMc hasn't exactly set the earth on fire. My point isn't that Donovan is bad, but the team around him is substandard, and by the time the FO does build a true contender Donovan might be used up or broken up. Did you think Donovan will get lucky with only two bona fide wideouts and a crappy line? He gives us a better chance at winning close games yeah, but is he still going to be effective in 2012?

I understand your thinking from a long term aspect, just wondering what an offensive line as inept as ours would do for his short, or long term confidence. In hind-sight I'd still love to have him because I knew from the beginning McNabb was going to be short term at best.

I agree that the team is substandard but the Skins are much improved at the 2 most important things in football, head coach and QB. These 2 pieces have made a substandard team that likely should be 2-6 into a 4-4 team that is still in the hunt. Its a week to week league and there's no telling what might happen in the next game. This team is far from dead.

No one's arguing that the Skins aren't better. Just that when you consider that we were really really really bad last year and now we are just really bad, the step up doesn't seem all that attractive.

Well very disappointing loss to say the least. I did not expect us to play this bad nor this offense to be so inept!

But into the bye we go, couldn't come at a better time.

Hope this team can get it together in the 2nd half, as we have way to many areas that need improvement at the mid point including this coaching staff.

Really?! You'd have preferred they didnt improve at all. I would actually say they arent really bad, they are .500 team and in today's NFL that's pretty much middle of the road.

I just wish there wasn't all this worthless drama that gets stirred for two weeks.

JC's Last 2 weeks (with absolutely NO WRs...Louis Murphy was all he had and he's hurt):

Week 7 - 12/20, 204 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT....WIN 59-14
Week 8 - 15/27, 310 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT...WIN 33-3

Just saying.

Of course, today with McNabb/Grossman was what JC had to deal with all of last year...no QB would have won with this, except maybe Peyton Manning.

I expect this benching to fire Donovan up, he'll light the Eagles up in 2 weeks. It worked that way when he was benched by Reid.

Re: Week 8: Redskins vs. Lions Gameday thread

Also, the Lions this year aren't the Lions we've watched fail for the last few years. They're actually solid this season. Their defense is VERY good.

Their games:

Lost 19-14 to Bears
Lost 35-32 to Eagles
Lost 24-10 to Vikings
Lost 28-26 to Packers
WON 44-6 over RAMS
Lost 28-20 to Giants
BYE
Won 37-25 over Skins

The only game they weren't competitive in was the Vikings game...and that wasn't even a blowout.

And that's a whos who list of NFC teams. They don't play the Falcons or Saints, but no one else who isn't on that list of Lions opponents has a shot at the playoffs. They will still see the Bucs this year.
