Re: Campbell or Brunell in 2006?
Campbell will not start or play next season unless we are out of the playoff hunt. Ramsey has a better chance of playing for us next season than Campbell. With Saunders coming in it might be good news for Ramsey by opening up some QB compitition. Brunell is the starter but I think that the coaches will look at alot of game film to determine wether Brunell can carry this team for another year. I would love to see us keep Ramsey for another year and see how he plays in preseason. I am not a hugh Ramsey fan but I do feel he has learned more this season on the sidelines than he had in all his past seasons. We have alot of great coaches and I have faith they will make the best decisions for our team.

Re: Campbell or Brunell in 2006?
Also, in 2004 Brunell took 15 sacks in the half season he played. In the other half of that season, Ramsey took 23 sacks. And Ramsey even had the benefit of playing behind an offensive line that was starting to gel at the end of the season.
The fumble rates of Brunell and Ramsey are not much different from each other. But the INT and sack rates are in Brunell's favor big-time. Sacks kill drives, when you lose 7 yards on a play, your chances of making a first down are very slim. You end up punting. INTs don't even give you a chance to gain any field position by punting. Brunell is our best option going into next year. It's possible Campbell could be really good at taking care of the football, and I'll give him a chance to prove that to me. But usually young guys get intercepted. I say let him be the backup as long as Brunell is still good at managing an offense. |

Re: Campbell or Brunell in 2006?
I voted for Campbell but realistically I wouldn't commit to either one until after at least the first two pre-season games. If Campbell looks good, might as well let him start. Brunell saved us in a couple of games with his scrambling on 3rd and long. If Campbell can keep drives alive as much as Brunell (admittedly not that often) then he should go ahead and start. Maybe I'll change my opinion at Fan Aapreciation Day.

Campbell in the 1# slot will gives the team the best chance to win. There is no reason to wait if Campbell is ready to take the wheel. Brunell must admit he has lost a step and should be ready to take the roll of veteran backup.

May the best QB come out on top in training camp next season. I'll support either Campbell or Brunell, but would like to see the future sooner rather than later.

I'd like to have Campbell in just to see if he's good or not. If he isnt, then Brunell should be qb.

Cambell needs to get the exp in sometime. He was a great investment that cant be let go to waist. Brunnel should be more then happy to teach the youngin how to play who knows we may have a peyton manning on our hands and were playing brunnel

Re: Campbell or Brunell in 2006?
I voted for Campbell, not because I think Brunell is bad, but because it's time to start working on the future. If Saunders can run some plays that rejuvenate Brunell, then that's great, but as of now, I just feel that Brunell doesn't look to the open receiver.
Do I think we can win with him? Yes. I also think we can win with Jason Campbell if anything that the coaching staff has said so far is accurate.

Exactly. Look at Pittsburgh. They started their young QB last year, and now he's heading to the Super Bowl at age 23.

Re: Campbell or Brunell in 2006?
I dont think you will find many coaches, that short of injury to the vet with those numbers, would agree with you.
And I love you to death, but when you spend billions of dollars on something, and you have a million+ people counting on you. I wouldn't be able to go to sleep whispering to myself, "if ben roethlisburger did it, then so can Jason." Ben is a statistical wack job. You simply can never expect something even close to that. I dont discount that you could be right, but id say there is probably a 90-98% chance, you are way off. When somebody performs as advertised, you do not pull him. You do not pull him. I wish Mark was my daddy. We are building for the Divison Title, and the Superbowl next year. By starting your unproven, no experienced qb, your new goal is to be above .500, and then the playoffs. Mark is playoff bound again next year, homies. |

He doesn't look to the third option, why? Because that takes a little longer which means your going to probably get hit and Brunell at his age no longer can take the hit, that was the knock on him when we traded for him around the NFL, they felt he was no longer was willing to hold the ball because he was afraid to be hit. |

I voted Campbell, but I just want to be in the playoffs again, whoever can get us there. Coach Gibbs will make the right decision. Campbell may still be a year away.
