Re: Schottenheimer fired from San Diego
Most teams have the coaches and start fresh by bringing in new players. Chargers have the players now they have to start over by bringing in new coaches.

At least Norv Turner is still available. Shrewd timing.

Re: Schottenheimer fired from San Diego
I bet Norv gets that job. Young QB for him to develop further, we know what he does with RBs, rest of the team in place. Knowing the "I left the Redskins" curse....Norv WINS Superbowl???
Not so unlikely...unless of course they have to beat the Skins to do it. They need one hell of a defensive coordinator or they'll be playing arena ball. |

Re: Schottenheimer fired from San Diego
norv is a decent OC, but he's lacking in the leadership department, and that's probably why he's had bad experiences as a head coach. If the team is pretty well in place (like say, the pistons), he could do alright.

Re: Schottenheimer fired from San Diego
Due to the timing, and the.................unexpected Marty departure, Norv's relative worth went through the roof

Re: Schottenheimer fired from San Diego
I think that if Norv Turner were calling the plays, the Chargers would routinely drop 40 points on people. It would be fun to watch.

Re: Schottenheimer fired from San Diego
Listen up....If u have ever noticed MArty can never stay ANYWHERE! The only place he really stayed was KC, and he didnt get it done over there. Since then, he has been like the TO of coaches. Everywhere he goes, he can never seem to sustain an equilibrium with his management. With us, one season then he scoffed at Snyder's attempt to be GM by bad mouthing him. That resulted in his release. San Diego, he had good seasons, but could never get in lione with management. This time it was so bad that almost all of his assistants left, because they knew that he would not be there any longer than the followoing season, and they were right.
MArty if u are listening, you and you partner in washed-up-coach crime Wade Phillips, who both suck ass in playoff football, need to stick to assistant coaching or get a Job with the NFL network. They are hiring. Look they even gave Jim Mora's dumb @ss a job.

Re: Schottenheimer fired from San Diego
ESPN radio is reporting this am that Norv is the front runner for the job. They are saying it is Len Pasquarelli's report. How lucky a coach with a losing record is Norv????
