I also think alot of it arises from confusion. I doubt Imus or our good friend Krammer interacted with any black people at all. I mean Richards freaking called blacks "afro-americans", who the hell says that anymore?

I just think it is a stupid term and just stupid to distinguish between nigger and nigga. Neither should be used. And this isnt just me, many significant black leaders think the usage of the word is offensive and shouldnt be used.

Re: Don Imus
Rob has an interesting point. I guess it's true that a lot of minority comedians make fun of other minority groups or white people and society doesn't bat an eye. But, even if it is hypocritical, it's hard to feel real bad for Imus. The guy is a millionaire who got to talk for living about sports, etc.

Re: Don Imus
I listened to it. In my opinion respect is a two way street. It is either ok for everyone to make jokes of that nature or no one at all. Me personally, I like and laugh with those commedians that we afore mentioned. But, those people that were laughing, should not be upset when all of a sudden they are the brunt of somebody else's joke.

Being insulted is a form of being badgered. You didn't ask for it, and it bothers you that you got it.

And now the Rutgers womens team is going to be on Oprah today. I mean, enough is enough. Stop giving notice to this. Why aren't the Lady Vols on Oprah? They are the champions after all.

I'll bet a shiny nickel quite a few rappers are taking note of all this. I'll bet some will drop such lyrics from their songs. Some will talk about the incident. |

Re: Don Imus
Here's an excellent article on the whole Imus ordeal. It's long, but if you have the time it's a great read.
It talks about how do we know where the line is on offensive comments? Paraphrasing a bit, comics are constantly throwing out racially charged jokes. "But there are as many lines in the sand as there are people." We continually define where the lines are by discussing it, debating it. And when the Rutgers women stood up at their press conference and expressed their reaction, they drew a line in the sand that we could all agree on. The Imus Fallout: Who Can Say What? | TIME
