Defense would be SICK!
Do we? I thought we had just under $6 mil before we even sign rookies.

Hill, as much as I would love to have him, turned down $6 mil a year from Seattle. Methinks he is too expensive.

Yea, and the FO said they were going to look at some OL? I read that somewhere, who is available and how can we possibly afford them?

Well they have us here at 8.9 Million under the cap. If we really want Hill, that should be plenty to sign him and our draft picks. Our cap man is our MVP so im certain it can happen...

Even if that is true, Hill wants more than $6 mil. a year. That would leave less than $2.9 mil. in the most optimistic scenario. And we still need to sign Orakpo, who as a first rounder will not be cheap. And everyone and their brother wants us to sign an OT. Can we really sign Orakpo, the rest of the rookies, and a FA OT for less than $2.9 mil.? That seems unlikely, especially given that the $2.9 mil. number was already optimistic.

It seems to me that to have a hope we'd have to do serious cutting, not just cosmetic cutting, elsewhere. We'd have to give up big names, not just someone like Thrash.

We have to get him[Hill signed] this would be big for us. Now yes the cap is full but next year looks to be not a cap year right? So back load it with a big amount coming next season. The numbers can be moved around to get him in if Danny wants him. But it looks like Vinny is happy with the LB's he has so I don't think we will get Hill. Tell you something Hill has way more up side then J.Taylor had and we broke this years draft for him. Hill may cost us some of Dannys S money but Hill is better then most of our LB on the roster now[Fletcher and Mcintosh is really all we have]. I sure love to see Hill[6-1 235], Fletcher[5-10 245] and Mcintosh[6-2 233] as our LB's! I guess I can dream!

We should make a real push to sign him, especially since we have enough cap room. Blades is nothing more than a backup, while Thomas has been injury prone. If we got Hill, we would arguably have one of the best defenses in the league.

Blades is an absolute beast. He is our air apparent to Fletcher. The problem is that him and Fletcher dont go well together because of size.

Exactly, Blades is not an OLB. He is and will be the replacement for Flecther at MLB, and when he plays MLB he's a beast. Would you agree we need to sign some vet FA (Hill, Foote) to come in and compete for the SAM spot?

I agree that keeping an eye on the LB market is a good idea. There may be more candidates than Hill or Foote available in the near future as teams do post-draft housecleaning.

Lotus landed this one right on the money, and he said it right before your post, ill throw it out there again:

Re: Leroy Hill A Free Agent!!

Well I don't think Hill is gonna get exactly what he is asking for. He was arrested not long ago and just released after the draft. It's not like he has a lot of leverage. I would still try to make a run at him for a reasonable offer.

Unfortunately i heard there were multiple teams courting him already. But if we can get him, AND have enough to make all of the other moves we need to, then hell yes we should do it!

Yeah I heard that too, but at that price? I would do it though. I just think the move would be a HUGE asset for the skins.

Him and Albert Haynesworth have something in common, neither has played a full 16 game season. He's on the smallish side and scouts worry that he wears out towards the end of the game due to his aggressive style.

Re: Leroy Hill A Free Agent!!

He is still a lot better than any options currently on our roster, that's for sure. And he can't be any worse than MW last year. Not many players make it through a full 17 game schedule anymore but if your concerned about that... rotate Blades in at all 3 backup LB's spot during the game unless Wilson or one of these rookies step up.?
All players a some kind of gamble these days...
