BTW, the G-men put up 44 on the Bucs. That is how bad we are. So what if DT catches that ball? Maybe we win, maybe we lose. Either way, we still blow chunks.
We had three possessions i know where penalties and not being able to get a couple of yards killed the drive. JC completed a 17 yard play that was brought by a penalty, the play where Beason stop Davis from getting two yards & the one where Davis went midair and almost fumbled. We got to find ways to keep drives going, but the first thing we need to do unless we are giving up on the season is call up some FA O-lineman ASAP!!!!

It's a Danny Boy cream his pants, wet dream special. Marketing glitz with actual results to go along with it.
No more BS about bringing in guys from the past "days of glory" here. We brought Gibbs back with mixed results. Bugel stayed on after Gibbs left and hasn't really been to show us any magic with his O line now has he? As with the question about Zorn being able to be a HC, being a QB coach for 10 years, do you think Grimm would be any better? Why hasn't he been picked up for a HC position? You have heard his name popping up in the past for some jobs, but no hires. This is a new era, a whole new ballgame as to the one where Gibbs won it all 3 times. Trying to recapture a part of the glorious past might sell you some tickets for awhile, but it doesn't mean you are going to build a winner. Plus unlike Jack, who let the GM and co work their magic, you have little Danny managing his real life fantasy team.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Panthers)

Also look at recent history of the Skins' coaches post Gibbs I. You have had 6 different men coaching(not counting Terry Robiskie since he only coached half a season) and only 2 of those(Marty, Coach Gibbs) had HC experience. Marty could have turned it around if not for him wanting the GM position, and Gibbs of course got us to the playoffs twice. Do you really want to play the odds on a newbie HC? Think about it of the newbies we hired as HC, Norv was the most competent one of the bunch. I mean Norv Turner, come on!!!? We land a Cowher or Shanny, or land the best OC out there for the HC. Hell, I would take Brian Billick if he wanted the job. If Grimm was so great his ass would have been a HC by now.

Do you remember a time when we used to swarm to the ball not just watch our team mates make the play by themselves? That was one thing we did under Gregg Williams. I remember him teaching that. Does anyone remember this but me? If you swram to the ball that doesn't happen and a lot of miss tackles don't end up being touchdowns if you swarm to the ball.

I sure do when Greg came here our defense changed instanly. Our defense was all over the field flying around. We didn't let the offense dictate to us we dictated to them.

Has anyone notice that our offense does not attack the defense. We play not to lose verses not to win. Zorn went into a shell when we had the lead and played not to lose.

Where is Alridge to use him on some screen and toss plays?

Did you notice unless i was taking a piss i only saw us throw the ball deep once the play DT dropped. Zorn did dial anymore than that but he ran his infamous stretch play in the endzone for a safety.

Yeah that stretch play was awful to call on the damn goaline. We did only throw deep 1 or 2 times. But JC was running for his freaking life bro. the LT ( he dont rate to know his name) and Heyer where getting beat like a drum. Cooley had to stay in to help the LT. Man I was hoping Samuels could have sucked it up and came back to play.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Panthers)

The Redskins now find a way to lose games verses wining games. The Panthers had X-MAS come early because we gift wrap the win to them. Our defense ate their ground game up and they had only 1 drive on the long KR. Our defense just stop their offense again like we had been doing all game until the special teams unit gives them life. Thanks special teams for helping the Panthers get their 1st victory of the year. We continue to keep teams hanging around when we could have put them out of their misery. The Redskins always find a way to keep the game close no matter how poor the team they are playing. The Panthers had no offense and still put up 20 points. This means our offense is worst than a High School offense, it just stinks up the place. Sorry Redskins defense you came out and played today no thanks to the offense and 2 bad special teams plays. Greg Blache you are steping up keep them hungry and please rotate cause they will spen alot of time on the field this year.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Panthers)

I was really disappointed in Hall - if you look carefully he missed TWO tackles to end the game - first a 3rd down run (the RB pushed by him on a second effort) and then a 9 yard QB run. I guess the interception-TD makes up for it, but still -- learn to TACKLE. damn.

I still believe we could be a top-10 team with a good coach. We could be next year's comeback team -- like Miami 2008 or Denver 2009. The best analogy for this team is when I play Madden using the Colts and lose to the Rams -- because I call the wrong plays and don't execute them well. The team could be good, but we're playing like stink.

What I like about Shanahan is he won in Denver with a strong offensive line. If he comes I'd hope he drafts ALL offensive line. And maybe snag a franchise QB in the draft.

Btw, I thought Josh McDaniels was an idiot for getting rid of Cutler --> but he looks like a genius, at least for now. Good for him. Wish we had a good coach we could believe in..

Brian Orakpo - Man what a crappy draft pick. 2.5 sacks? 2.5 SACKS? That's it? Lets put things in perspective. Bruce Smith had 200. Michael Strahan had 141.5 and he wasn't even a 1st round pick!!!!!!! 2.5 career sacks is simply unacceptable. Can't believe I ever defended you and trust me you're not going to get into the hall of fame with 2.5 sacks.

McDaniels came from a no player is bigger than the team attitude environment. The Pats let go of some good talent but there structure is so good it didn't matter. Brady is hurt no problem plug Cassell in we can go 11-5.

DeAngelo Hall: He needs to work on his tackling. Tackling Drills All Next Week.
Joe Gibbs: Not to blame at all, this is still Gibbs team, Zorn has the D and the running plays from Gibbs, the problem is the passing game, and playcalling. Look at the good players that he brought in.
Orakpo: Good player at DE, they need the let him play DE not linebacker. King beat him for the touchdown, Zorn is HC he needs to change that today.
Derek Anderson goes 2-17: And people say JC is a bad QB, look at the alternatives.
I'm open for almost anyone to come in as HC now, Grimm or almost anyone from the Gibbs coaching tree.
Horton, Moore, Tryon, Hall, Jarmon, Orakpo, Haynesworth...Gibbs didn't bring any of those guys in.

I understand that it's easy to just say all blame goes to Cerrato and all credit goes to Gibbs...but let's be real here. Yes, Gibbs brought in some great players and did some great thing his second time around. But he did also make some big personnel blunders (I didn't even mention the Campbell trade which wasn't just a swap of first rounders and could end up being a blunder as well) that have negatively impacted us. There's no getting around that

^ Gibbs 2.0 was a failure for the most part but it was exiciting to have he come back.
