Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I actually liked Zorn but it seems to me that Snyder is willing to put his ego in check to some degree by bringing Shan in.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
i have a bad feeling this whole thing falls through and shanahan winds up in dallas and we're forced to hire another zorn-esque coach.

a) The bottom continues to fall out through December in a major way. b) Jerry Jones offers Shanny more than Snyder is willing to pay, which we both know will be hard. Also, somoneone here pointed out that Jerry has too much money tied up in that stadium to go too far out on limb. c) Jerry gives him the type of personnel control he's looking for. |

Not if the deal is already done. Kind of like we said.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
By the way, here is a direct quote from Chris Mortenson when asked if he texted Mike Shanahan to see what was up. (Reported on Atlanta 680 Sports Talk)
"No, because there is no need to text him. I know that he will be the next coach of the Washington Redskins. Bruce Allen is the guy that Shanahan wanted and the Redskins went out and signed Allen because it was part of the deal.He will be announced as the Redskins coach at seasons end". Hmmmm, could National Football Post and our source be right?

Also on a side note if Shannahan not wanting to work with Vinny helped lead to his dismissal then we should be welcoming him with open arms.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Tells me two things
1. NFP and ESPN and others reporting this have a ton of credibility on the line. 2. What are the thoughts of theWarpath? Is this fair to Jim Zorn or is it just part of the business. Discuss it. Great topic.

"Fair to Jim Zorn" went out the window a long time ago.

Here's how you get around the "Rooney Rule" -- Step 1. Call up Tony Dungy. Step 2. Ask Tony if he wants the job. Step 3. Wait for Tony to say "No." Step 4. Hire the coach you wanted all along. Bingo. Rooney rule followed. |

It's definitely part of the business. These days coaches essentially get 3 years to turn things around. Zorn got two. No biggie. Personally, I'd like to see him stay, but hey. |
