Finally, let's tip our hats to the Giants who came in and played like a team with a purpose. We were overmatched in every phase of the game.

The Giants did play with a sense of purpose while we managed to turn in our worst effort this season.

Whoever the new coach coupled with Bruce Allen, have a tremendous job on their hands to get this team back to respectability.

I think in the last few weeks minus last night's game, the redskins have showed that they can be more than respectable. But they just need to come prepared, focused, and play with effort. Funny how that makes all the difference in the world.

I agree....And I'm speaking not only about the play on the field but the lack of discipline and professionalism as well. The effort and intensity must not last for just a few games, it has to become a constant for the entire season. The pressure will be on Bruce Allen to produce early, and believing he shares a little of his father's wisdom "The Future Is Now."

It's going to take time. We've got to get a whole new o line and you can't rebuild a line in one year. I just hope he brings in some professionals and some leaders. We need more guys like London Fletcher.

I agree that the signs were there. I heard on the radio today that Kelly Johnson of Comcast reported that throughout the week of practice last week several players asked her off camera about Mike Shanahan. So there were definitely big distractions.

Yeah, he looked scared tonight, but he actually hasn't played that way in the last several weeks. I don't know if it was the Giants, or primetime, or the fact that the rest of the team mailed it in, but he definitely didn't have it last night... And because of that, gave all the haters an excuse to come out of the woodwork.

Well if you're going to play scared against a division opponent on national tv in primetime...then you're going to rightfully get hated on.

I agree though he hadn't played that way in recent weeks. Still, it's a lot different playing at Oakland

I agree. When is the last time JC has stepped up in a primetime, "big" game? This wasn't even a big game. He looked scared from the beginning. The line was horrible. The coaching didn't help. It was just a horrible, embarrassing night. Alot that happened last night wasn't JC's fault. He didn't play well though and looked shell-shocked out there.

With a complete lack of protection I really can't blame JC for being off. Dude was getting killed and kept coming back for more.

I actually hung in and saw the whole game as I couldn't believe that there wouldn't be at least a drive in which we showed a little fight. I give credit to Fred Davis who really hustled for extra yards (and got 1st downs -- most of the few we made -- and a TD as a result), to Haynesworth for trying to protect a teammate, and to Fletcherfor constant hustle. No one really came to play, and it was really disheartening. Zorn looked completely lost and befuddled. JC looked like he'd just survived Bastogne (did you see how glassy-eyed he was at the end of the game?. Our O-line functioned like matadors last night, and it was painful to watch.

This may be the worst overall effort I have seen by our team since I became a fan in 1973.

Yeah, roommate and I were talking about how Zorn was just wandering around the sidelines, quite a few times he wasn't even near the field, but off talking to an assistant or something.

I want to say we haven't played this bad in a while which makes me wonder like I was wondering last night if Allen gave Zorn back his reigns to see what Zorn would do. Honestly it just screamed of Zorn all over it....no game planning, bad play calls, bad timing. I'm waiting to hear something about "execution".

Did the team sleep all week? It's like they never exploited any form of weakness of the Giants; ie their bad secondary. It took me 2 series to figure out they needed to get the ball to Ganther behind the defensive line. How hard is it to pass to a RB beyond the defensive line?

I felt if we had showed up BA might keep some of the staff, but screw them, and to bring a lathargic act of football to National TV is pathetic. Allen has a helluave lot of work to bring this team back to being respectable.
