Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
I've officially fallen off the Mason bandwagon also this last year but I wonder if he would look better in Shanahan's scheme.

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
Wow...I know you guys are upset about his antics but not wanting him back is foolish. Who is going to get you that 1000 yards? Who are the defenses going to focus on?
Portis is still a baller people and you'll realize what you're missing if the Skins lose him.

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
My vote is no. Although I agree almost 100% with everything he said about Jason Campbell's abilities and the weak "captains" we've had on our team, saying those things publicly was a huge mistake, and I think Jason Campbell still has the potential to be a leader and at leats already has the respect of most of his teammates . . . something Portis never even considered before he shot his mouth off.
I wish I could see a scenario where we land C.J. Spiller, but I don't see it happening. Everything is pointing towards Spiller going late in the first. I now dust off my completely pulled-out-of-my-ass three-way trade scenario from last night: I say we give Portis to the Browns in order for them to take Matt Cassel's contract, clearing space for KC to swap 1st round picks with us, letting them get Clausen and giving us their left tackle (who is actually a guard). Thus, we get a pro LG and draft Okung at LT with the 5th pick. We just solidified our blindside and dumped Portis, and each team is happy. |

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
Originally, I wanted them to keep Portis but I think it comes down to three important points.
His is overpaid. He is devisive. He is worn down if not broken down. I love what he used to bring on Sunday but I think it is time to move on. Now if he is the hardest working player in the offseason, then let him stay but I don't see it happening. |

Lagarett Blount!!! I take him in the 5th or 6th round, he was at onetime proceeded as a top 2nd rounder.. Shanny can get him straight.

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
I say keep him if he gets in shape and runs like he did in Denver or at least close to it..

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
I would take Portis back but only if he restructures his current contract and take a pay cut to prove that he can be a top flight RB again. Put some incentives in the contract and let him earn his money. He would then refuse and we release him. Portis would do better on a team like the Pats where he would have to conform to the coaches and team leaders. I do think he has a few good years left to be productive.

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
Honestly he's a guy that if I talked to enough I'd be comfortable with. Had it been just the initial punch it'd make it easier, but the continued tirade was a bit too much. The guy that got punched more than deserved it. After coming back from the suspension it didn't seem like he did much though, despite having been practicing with the team the whole time.

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
I haven't voted on this one because it is pretty tough.
Given good blocking, Portis is probably a 1300 yrd rusher...that is hard to replace. I don't care what Denver did with a bunch of RBs...this is Washington and our line is completely different right now...so...if we cut him, we'd obviously have to replace him with someone not on the squad now...which means a trade for a player or a draft pick...but since his contract has a poison pill...that is not possible...so we either lose a really good player and the best RB blocker in the league for nothing or we keep him and tell him to keep his mouth shut. Until we have linemen that can block like portis, we should probably keep him...screw the money... Thinking as typing....maybe we could trade him for a starting lineman? and just pay Portis his bonus making him tradeable? I am sure there are teams out there that have solid lines that need a consistent RB like Portis...at this point, I'd rather have a better line than Portis

Portis is garbage as a player and as a person. He does nothing here except take up a roster spot and a lot of undeserved money...

Re: Do you want Portis back next season?
he really died once he got here, he had over 3000 yds rushing his first 2 years in denver, and over 30 td's, and to think a coach would willing give that up shows how much he cares for portis, i used to want him back but he will be gone next year
